Great article about the relationship between user experience and user privacy. This statement is a great way of putting it:

"Google does not sell access to my data; it sells access to my attention"
Apple is going to realize very soon that it has made a grave mistake by positioning itself as a bastion of privacy against Google, the evil invader of everyone’s secrets. The truth is that collecting information about people allows you to... | Dustin Curtis | Villain.

One of the most useful articles I have seen about embracing the density-independent pixel when developing for Android. It is simpler to design for the proliferation of Android devices than you may think.
As someone who develops for Android and iOS I get asked the same question over and over again by people: "Is developing for Android screens a huge pain? How on earth do you cope with the thousands ...

Check out the Kite Patch. It renders people virtually invisible to mosquitos, without the harmful, nasty chemicals found in many of the solutions we use today. These small stickers adhere to your clothing, disrupting mosquitos' ability to detect the carbon dioxide we exhale. Even better, when you buy ten Kites, they'll send ten more to a family in Uganda, where mosquito-born illnesses are more severe than anywhere else in the world.

Gets you thinking about your own company's logo doesn't it? Makes perfect sense in our world of diverse UIs.

Not what I expected, however... dropping the vowels seems wrong and I don't think the Disney or Levi's logos work at the smallest size.

Worth considering, but the execution highlights problems.

I have been a big fan of +Tom Merritt and Buzz out Loud/Tech News Today for a looong time and was bummed to see him leave the show. Today TNT stopped providing news in their tech news podcast -- a genius move -- prompting me to look for an alternative. Luckily I found Tom's new show. What a relief, daily tech news again.

I took this week off work to spend some quality time with Ethan and teach him some useful skills. The main event of the week was to build a fort and in this video Ethan provides a step by step guide to build your own. He would love to see your comments, so please let him know what you think.

We spent two nights at the Ragged Point Inn this weekend. The surroundings are gorgeous and we would have been satisfied if the price for the room was around $100 a night. Unfortunately it was $250 a night and it left you feeling disappointed with this rough and ready room with no privacy and little sound insulation so you were very aware that there were people all around you. The staff were unhelpful and in many cases rude and everything on site, from the restaurant to the shop was twice the price it should be for a poor quality experience.
