UK authors who are registered with the PLR Office can now access their 2013/14 earnings statement via https://www.plr.uk.com/olga/login.aspx
PLR was established by the Public Lending Right Act 1979 which gave British authors a legal right to receive payment for the free lending of their books by public libraries. Under the Act funding is provided by Central Government and payments are made to eligible authors in accordance with how often their books are lent out from a selected sample of UK public libraries.

New on my blog!
I just wanted to take this opportunity to wish all my readers a Very Happy Christmas! Even if you don't celebrate the religious festival, I hope you enjoy the festive period. Thank you for reading at least some of my blog posts this year, and contributing to some interesting discussions.

My latest E-Writer newsletter...
I just added another post to my blog. This is a sort of Super Freebie Friday, as I have listed no fewer than seven Kindle e-books about writing that are currently on free promos. Most of these are e-books that I have featured previously in this newsletter, but all are free today (at least).

I just wanted to let you all know that I have cut my ties with WCCL (publishers of many of my writing courses) "by mutual consent". I shall therefore no longer be managing the myWritersCircle forum or updating the MWB blog. This is of course sad in some ways, but liberating in others. I had a good run with WCCL - it's 15 years since I first started working with them - but nothing is forever. I shall take some time to consider my position, and maybe start a new blog in due course.

No problem. Yes, there doesn't appear to have been any publicity about it.

Have you seen the Disney film Frozen yet? If not, it's probably only a matter of time! This (very loose) adaptation of the Hans Christian Andersen fairytale "The Snow Queen" has broken just about every record for an animated feature. And it has also been spectacularly successful in its ...

Introduction
I am a working professional freelance writer, editor and writing teacher. I live in Staffordshire, England, with my partner Jayne (an IT lecturer) and our two cats.

I am the author of over 100 non-fiction books. These include Living & Working in Germany, Living & Working in Italy, Start Your Own Home-Based Business, Stress-Busting, How to Find Your Ideal Partner, and Advertising for the Small Business.

I also write articles, short stories, advertising copy, TV and radio scripts, website copy, e-books, multimedia presentations, and training materials.

Another area in which I have worked extensively is writing novelty books and products - everything from quiz books to party games, mystery puzzles to mug and tee-shirt slogans.

I am the author of a growing range of training courses for writers and aspiring writers, including Quick Cash Writing, Write Any Book in Under 28 Days, and Essential English for Authors (all published on CD-ROM or as downloads by the electronic publishing house WCCL. For more information about any of these, please visit my homepage at www.nickdaws.co.uk.

I particularly enjoy fiction writing. I am an award-winning short-story writer, with work published in various anthologies. My novella The Festival on Lyris Five was recently published by Salvatore Publishing. I am always especially interested to receive inquiries about fiction-writing, novelizations, and so on.

I have a blog at www.mywritingblog.com, to which anyone with an interest in writing is welcome to subscribe. I also run the free Mywriterscircle.com writers' community and forum, which has been in the Writer's Digest magazine Top 101 Websites for Writers list for the last two years.

Although my primary area of expertise is writing and editing, I am also increasingly involved in Internet publishing and marketing.

I am happy to receive proposals for collaborations and joint ventures, or inquiries about potential writing commissions. My areas of special interest include small business matters and self-employment, self-development, personal finance, gambling for profit, freelance writing, grammar and punctuation, and the Internet. However, as a full-time professional freelance writer, I am happy to write (or edit) on any subject not requiring extensive specialist knowledge.
