Windows 8 looks very interesting. Anybody else have any impressions of it? I see some social media apps built into it as well, very cool.

Not yet. I have the Preview version and running in a virtual window on my laptop. I'm just wondering if Microsoft will have a version just for business without all the fluff.

When you share a post with someone directly, it shows up in their notifications. It's like sending them an IM. It says, "Look at this now!"

When you ALWAYS share posts with them directly, it's spamming.

When you share a post with someone via a circle, it shows up in the stream(s) of the circle(s) where they have you. It's like sending them an email. It says, "Look at this when you want to."

Google Plus: is it an up-and-coming overcomer of other social recruiting tools like LinkinIn and Facebook? Here is one recruiter who is loving its pros, from a geeky perspective.

These guys provide a shelter in Ann Arbor for those in need. It is always at capacity, and this event helps raise funds to support the shelter.

It is astonishing how much social media is changing the world. Even if you have seen a previous video on the Social Media Revolution I invite you to look at 2012s. It keeps your marketing efforts in perspective.

Great article that helps you see at least part of the picture of what you stand to possibly lose by joining BeKnown. If you are a passive job seeker, meaning you may be on the lookout for a better opportunity if one crosses your desk, keep these considerations in mind.

More success stories and encouragement like this resource is needed in today's economy. I agree with Hannah, there is a high need for many of us to step up to the plate of becoming entrepreneurs, but be ready for the commitment it takes to make it a success. Great facts in here about persistence, character, and attitude that you will need.

I share this because 1: we are all going to need to be entrepreneurs and 2: job search is essentially like running a business 3. It was mentioned by @boxofcrayons and several other people in my Twitter stream this am. Anyone read Derek Sivers "Anything You Want"?

I agree ... and I also have that as a goal of the company, but just wanted to give my reasoning on why I haven't been able to do something like that ... However, I think this discussion is good and deserves more attention. It would be great to hear from people who have been able (or about to take) the leap into doing this ... I would love to hear ideas, problems, etc. that they face. Thanks for starting this ...

Introduction
Datekeeper

Non-profit organizations are a joy to work with, and allow us to meet the most passionate hearts in our communities.  Staying on the fore front of technology is one of the areas you could say they have a challenge with doing.  Datekeeper's vision is to fill this gap by giving charity organizations online tools to make their event planning easier.

Lets face it: motivating and organizing volunteers is challenging enough. You add to that digital marketing, selling tickets, and measuring results, and you have yourself a monumental task.  Let Datekeeper help you.

Ensure that your primary fund raising event doesn't conflict with others in your community.  That should be your first goal.  Then let your neighbors know about your event.  Then organize how your going to collect payments.  Then track progress of your sales.  Then market, sell, and learn from your data.

Oh, did I mention that all of the above can be done on Datekeeper

eJobMate

Helping people connect to jobs is much more challenging than it appears at first.  I can easily see why there is a high need for career specialists and coaches, especially in our current economy.  This high need gave rise to a technology that I have been involved in developing for the past 2 years.  The site is called eJobMate, and the purpose is to provide a matching framework in which job seekers and employers get married in perfect harmony.

More of my recent research has been leading to the well known fact in the career specialist circles that networking is key to landing a job.  Sure, you can find lots of jobs online to apply for, but how many do you truly have gift and talent in, as well as skills?  More so, do you know someone within that company that can vouch for you, or at least is aware of you in any degree.  Establishing these personal connections goes a long way.

Well, eJobMate exists to provide a tool that eases the burden of locating the right jobs that are posted online.  We have many other goals, that will come in time, the first is to assist you in locating the right active jobs and candidates in your local market.  Our technology is unique, and utilizes a patent pending skill system containing over 1400 unique skills.
