Democratic Sen. Jeanne Shaheen questioned President-elect Donald Trump’s nominee for Secretary of State on Wednesday, asking former Exxon-Mobil CEO Rex Tillerson where he stood on relations with Russia and on sanctions over Moscow’s interference with last year’s presidential election.

New Hampshire’s senior U.S. senator, who often highlights that she was the first senator to call for public hearings on Russian interference, said to Tillerson that “in 2008 you notably said that there was no respect for the rule of law in Russia today. Do you continue to believe that’s true?”

Fire service leaders in the Granite State have prepared themselves to use what they call a "tool of last resort" to formally share their dissatisfaction with the state's current fire marshal, William Degnan.

In response, they've prepared a process for firefighter union members taking a vote of no-confidence in Degnan, should they decide they need to take that extreme measure.

Police arrested a Vermont man in connection with the homicide of 57-year-old Robert Wesley, who died after he was shot in the head in his Alstead home Saturday evening.

Cody Yeaw, 25, of Putney, VT, was charged with manslaughter and is being held without bail pending an arraignment in Cheshire Superior Court on Thursday at 1 p.m.

A two-car crash sends one car into a dentist office and a woman to the hospital. Those who are familiar with the area say it's prone to crashes.

Broken glass and a dent in the side of a brick wall is what's left after a car went into the side of a dentist office around 9:30 Wednesday morning.

"It was shocking. I was working on a patient at the time in the middle of the building and the whole place shook," said Chris Skaperdas, D.M.D.

A dad who was fired for attending the birth of his newborn baby is receiving outpouring support from strangers.

Lamar Austin, 30, was given an ultimatum on New Year's Eve - either show up at work or at his son's birth. He said his boss texted him saying that if he did not show up to work, he would be terminated, and he later was, according to the Concord Monitor.

Sara Persechino started a GoFundMe account in order to alleviate some financial pressure, even though she does not personally know the Austin family.

Police arrested a Kingston woman on Tuesday after a seven-week investigation into the death of Sharon Zirpolo, who died of a drug overdose at a Plaistow Cumberland Farms parking lot on Nov. 12, 2016.

Detectives accused 26-year-old Kara Welch of selling Zirpolo the drugs that caused her fatal overdose. Welch was charged with the sale of a controlled drug resulting in death, a felony, and is currently being held at the Rockingham County Jail. Her arraignment has been scheduled for Friday.

A new sex novelty store wants to move in to Manchester, but there's a legal stumbling block stopping it.

Sophia Raymond, of Chichester, is trying to open up an adult novelty store called Provocative Indulgences on Manchester Street in downtown Manchester. Raymond claims it will be a boutique-style store with no pornography. She said it will also be a place for those suffering from sexual trauma to be connected with help and resources.

But there's a problem.

A man who had previously been on the “Rochester’s Most Wanted” list was taken into custody on Wednesday.

Police said 30-year-old Brandon Witcher was charged with two counts of theft and two counts of receiving stolen property.

Prosecutors have filed hate crime and aggravated kidnapping charges against four black suspects accused of beating and taunting a white man during an attack streamed live on Facebook.

Cook County prosecutors on Thursday announced charges against three 18-year-olds — Jordan Hill of Carpentersville, Brittany Covington of Chicago and Tesfaye Cooper of Chicago — and 24-year-old Tanishia Covington of Chicago.

Prosecutors say the four are also charged with aggravated unlawful restraint and aggravated battery with a deadly weapon. Three have also been charged with residential burglary.

An 87-year-old woman allegedly dragged a police officer a short distance after being pulled over on Thursday evening at about 5:30 p.m in Hooksett.

Beatrice Yergeau, of Manchester, was pulled over on West River Road for driving without any headlights. When police pulled Yergeau over, she became very angry with the officers, according to police.

Yergeau then opened her car door while the officer was speaking to her and put her car in drive, pinning the officer with the door and dragging her a short distance. The officer was able to free herself from the car and ran to the passenger side door where she reached into the car and put it in park.

Gov. Chris Sununu railed against political divisiveness and preached bipartisanship in his inaugural address.

But New Hampshire’s first Republican governor in a dozen years also spelled out a conservative agenda in his speech Thursday at the State House. And Sununu listed his top priorities as curbing the state's drug abuse crisis, addressing workforce and economic challenges, controlling rising health care and energy costs and improving education.

Sununu also outlined the steps he hopes to take in battling the Granite State’s heroin and opioid epidemic, adding that no one’s been untouched by the crisis.
