How can a young person live a clean life? By carefully reading the map of your Word. I’m single-minded in pursuit of you; don’t let me miss the road signs you’ve posted. I’ve banked your promises in the vault of my heart so I won’t sin myself bankrupt. Be blessed, God ; train me in your ways of wise living. I’ll transfer to my lips all the counsel that comes from your mouth; I delight far more in what you tell me about living than in gathering a pile of riches. I ponder every morsel of wisdom from you, I attentively watch how you’ve done it. I relish everything you’ve told me of life, I won’t forget a word of it.
Psalm 119:11

Parents, it's coming your way. Read and get educated... "We're starting to see a rash of cases of a syndrome referred to as excited delirium. This is where the body goes into hyperthermia, generally a temperature of 105 degrees. The individual becomes psychotic. They often rip off their clothes and run out into the street violently and have an adrenaline-like strength, and police are called and it takes four or five officers to restrain them. Then, once they are restrained, if they don't receive immediate medical attention they can die." http://ht.ly/LjzW8

Alcoholism can be passed down from parent to child, but not in the same way as Alzheimer's or cancer. How exactly is it passed on?

Give thanks to God —he is good and his love never quits. Say, “Save us, Savior God, round us up and get us out of these godless places, So we can give thanks to your holy Name, and bask in your life of praise.” Blessed be God , the God of Israel, from everlasting to everlasting. Then everybody said, “Yes! Amen!” and “Praise God!” - 1 Chronicles 16:34

Therapy, Recovery Coaching, Life Coaching and Consulting for Teens, College Students, Emerging Adults, Young Adults and their Families from a Christian perspective.
Introduction
Lisa Thompson is an expert in teens, college students, emerging adults and young adults.  She works with families through Therapy, Recovery Coaching, Life Coaching, and Consulting. She has been working with the Next Generation for nearly two decades in various settings like a nationally recognized substance abuse treatment center, on the college campus, and in the local church.

*Lisa is very passionate about encouraging you as a young person if you are feeling overwhelmed, stuck, or frustrated with your recovery or life.  She will help you to move forward by helping you reduce your stress level and make life more manageable so you can reach your full potential, discover your real passions, and experience the freedom that God intends for you.

* Lisa will help you successfully transition from treatment into lasting recovery if are new in recovery or simply struggling with your recovery.  Treatment can be very difficult and painful, but lasting recovery is much harder.  Successfully transferring the life and relapse prevention skills learned in treatment to every day real life can be overwhelming and a real challenge, which often leads to relapse and sometimes death.  Having an expert come along side and partner with you and your family during this time, can mean the difference between a second chance at life or returning to old ways and losing your life.  Lisa will come alongside of you so you don't feel like you are all alone while you make these tough life choices in order to sustain recovery and become all that God has created you to be.  She knows what it takes to be successful in recovery and would love the opportunity to help you change your life one day at a time.

* Lisa spent nearly a decade working as an Inpatient Adolescent Addictions Counselor at Rosecrance Substance Abuse Treatment Center in Rockford, IL.  While working with young people with dual diagnosis disorders, she has become an expert in youth and young adult drug, alcohol, other addictions, and relapse prevention.  She also is well versed in mental health issues that youth and young adults struggle with, as well as how these issues affect their family relationships and others who love them.  Lisa not only works with youth and young adults facing these issues, but also works closely with parents, coaching them through their own feelings, behavior, and changes that need to be made in order to help their child be successful.  When needed, she also works with schools, pastors, probation officers, other therapists, psychiatrists, and others involved with her clients.

* Lisa has often Coached college students and young adults struggling with transitioning into adulthood, career choices, professional frustrations, finances, health issues, dealing with life's ups and downs, decisions about marriage, and new families in addition to fighting the daily battles of addictions.

* Lisa understands the pressures of teens and young adults who are dealing with parents, friends, dating, trying to excel in school, transitioning to college and independence, serious dating relationships, getting married and starting families.  She is highly respected and sought after as the person to go to when feeling stuck, overwhelmed, stressed out, lacking direction, needing encouragement, struggling with faith, and help living and working up to full potential.  She is a real and straightforward person who knows what it is like to struggle, to face the frustrations and stress of life and relationships as a teen, student, and young adult.  Overcoming her own obstacles helps her help others also figure out how to overcome them instead of being held back by them.

* Lisa served as Spiritual Life Campus Director, Student Body Chaplain, and on Student Senate while in college at Judson University.  In these roles, she oversaw all of the various Student Ministries on campus.  She also provided guidance and spiritual direction to students struggling with feeling stressed out, burned out, and overwhelmed by the pressures of college and young adult life, friendships, roommates, dating relationships, growing and struggling with issues of faith as well as more serious issues such as dealing with crisis, death of loved ones, and pain from the past.

* Lisa served in a leadership role in a large youth and college group, Cross Current, under the direction of Jeanne Mayo (also known as the Youth Leader’s Coach) at her church.  She was also a counseling intern at Rockford First while she was in grad school at Trinity International University.  She also interned and Big Brothers Big Sisters during college where she implemented and led after school programs.
