10:30 PM Tuesday - Jim Gandy - Another very hot day is on tap for Columbia and the midlands. There have been sixteen 100°+ days in Columbia this summer tying it in 5th place with 2011. If we hit 100° on Wednesday it will move into a 4th place tie with 1986.
However, there will be a slight chance of afternoon thunderstorms Wednesday. The chance for rain will be increasing through Friday. This will bring the temperatures down into the end of the workweek.
It will dry out this weekend and the heat will begin to build. Mid to upper 90s are expected early next week with another chance for storms on Tuesday.
