Glassful

Based in Long Island City, New York, +Glassful has an entirely new approach to enjoying wine. Their disruptive take on matching the right wine to an individual's particular taste makes discovering wine as fun, easy, and pleasurable as drinking it—which is exactly as it should be.

Users sign up to receive a monthly box containing three wines curated by the Glassful team to fit the individual users personal taste profile, which is created when they take a little quiz on the Glassful web site.

+James Bareham (California Pinot Noir lover) was asked by Glassful's founders to photograph a series of abstract images that could would encapsulate their slightly irreverent, modern, and passionate take on wine.

All of the images were shot on location at Glassful’s premises using all natural light.

Herb Deutsch Portrait Shoot

As part of an ongoing and exciting video project for a music client in the UK, James Bareham recently travelled out to Long Island, New York to record an interview and shoot portraits of the legendary Herb Deutsch.

Herb is an American composer, inventor, and educator, and is also currently professor emeritus of electronic music and composition at Hofstra University.

But what Herb is probably best known for is co-inventing the Moog Synthesizer with Bob Moog in 1964. Moog has since become the most famous electronic instruments and throughout 1970’s, the Minimoog came to be synonymous with the music of bands like Yes, Pink Floyd, Kraftwerk and Emerson Lake and Palmer.

Herb was photographed in the basement studio of his home in Massapequa Park, Long Island.

Comcast Labs

Comcast has been in the news a lot recently. High profile issues of net neutrality and customer service have grabbed headlines and stoked passionate arguments.

But working beyond these noisy headlines are over 126,000 Comcast employees, many of whom have the same ethos and passionate love of technology as their contemporaries working at Google, Apple, or Facebook.

+James Bareham was commissioned by Comcast to spend two days deep in the heart of the Comcast Center in Philadelphia to photograph the architecture of this impressive building and Comcast employees at work. With a particular focus on Comcast Labs and technology groups, James sat in on brainstorm sessions, UI discussions and product design meetings, capturing images of genuine employees in their authentic every-day working environment—Post-its and all.

These images are being used extensively in Comcast’s corporate website and digital collateral.

DEFY MFG.Co.

Founded on one man's desire to create something truly great, DEFY was born to prove that US manufacturing isn’t dead; that a small group of skilled and inspire craftspeople can make something that’s both functional, well designed, and undeniably ‘cool’.

Over the coming months, the newly named DEFY MFG.Co. will continue their drive to design and launch an ever expanding range of bags and accessories. But like the company, DEFY's mission has grown. Chris and his team are keen to develop new products that are well outside of their established range in the pursuit of further defining the DEFY brand. Nothing (well almost) is off the table.

+James Bareham continues to be deeply involved with this young and vibrant company. He recently spent a week at the DEFY studio in Ravenswood, Chicago, IL, brainstorming with the team and helping to develop the new theme of ‘If Not Now, When?’

But the real challenge of James’s week was to come up with a creative way to shoot a defining collection of new brand imagery for DEFY; images that captured the diversity of DEFY’s products, and variety of where and when they’re used. The images were created to be graphic, evocative and fun. Who but DEFY would have a fresh can of beer next to a gym bag and weights?

Evidence of a Crime

The New Cruelty is currently working on an ongoing project to create a series of edgy still life images that will be used in a major new documentary true crime series which is scheduled to air in early 2015.

This gallery features a selection of photographs from the premiere episode—which details the tragic death of a police officer at the hands of an extremely violent neo-nazi meth addict. The images represent just some of the items of evidence found in the killer's possession.

All of the weapons used for these photographs are high-quality replicas used in TV and film production. The images have been sized and optimized for HD broadcast format.

As this is part of an ongoing production, the client and working title for the series have been withheld until series airs...stay tuned.
