You'll find a sweet little trail just off of Highway 31 between Ione and Metaline at the Sweet Creek Rest Area. Perfect for a leg stretch during a road trip. You'll also find find several picnic tables tucked into shady glens where you can enjoy your road trip lunch fare.

Plenty of trailer parking, water spigot on site and easy trail access will have equine enthusiasts giving the trail system two thumbs up. The Little Pend Oreille National Wildlife Refuge was beautiful this past Labor Day. Freshly rinsed from recent rains and wonderfully fragrant with the scents of pine and earth. The MIll Butte Loop Trail was perfect for a late afternoon hike.

The Bead Lake Trail follows along the lake, with some areas close enough for you to take a dip in the very clear, deep water. Dogs are allowed on a leash, there are 4 dispersed camping sites which make it a great backpack overnight. Learn more at www.newashingtontrails.com/beadlake
