Oh, the tea and honey! :) This is the first thought that comes to my mind when I think of my brief stay at the New Steine Hotel in Brighton. As a tea lover, I always appreciate a superb cup of excellent tea and good quality honey. I enjoyed my tea comfortably sat by the window, delighted by a gorgeous sea view in the morning, in a nicely set breakfast room. The delicious, good quality vegetarian full English breakfast was the perfect choice. In my short stay at the New Steine during a writing trip to the lovely and friendly city of Brighton I was surprisingly pampered with a room upgrade, which was a marvellous thing at the end of a long day. After a smooth and fast online booking process I arrived at the hotel in the evening to be welcomed by two trainees who did everything to show their willingness to help in the check-in process. I was showed to my room and wished a good night. The quality, style, and cleanliness of the room, as well as the little details and art work on the wall contributed to a relaxed and comfortable stay, and a restful good night sleep. All in all, I liked and appreciated the atmosphere and friendliness at the New Steine. Excellent value for money. I would like to especially thank Kes and Stephan for their help and friendliness. I hope to see you again in my next stay at the New Steine when I go back to Brighton. :) -Susan Fourtané

This hotel is shocking. The service from "new management" is unbelievably bad. If you are looking to go to Brighton, please I implore you do not stay at the New Steine. You will regret staying here, I did. It was so bad that I ended up leaving at midnight because I couldnt handle the noise and service any longer. As for the "concierge" service, dont expect much. As a heart patient I wasn't even offered help taking my suitcase up TWO flights of stairs. You will never get your money back if you decide you dont like the room, even if you havent even touched anything in the room. And do not expect a clean room, we did and we were let down.

We just came back from a one night stay for Valentine’s and loved the New Steine. Being Valentine’s, we wanted to treat our self to a nice a boutique hotel and found it ticked all the boxes. Our room was a lovely boutique room with all the luxury toiletries you expect from a boutique hotel including dental rinse. The bed was comfortable and the art work was very funky. We had dinner in their restaurant, we had booked the diner package, the food was delicious and very French. We both had the same, Duck foiegras to start which was just as good as the one we had in France during our last visit if not better followed by the sea bass with a pastis sauce which we both thought went really well with the fish. Sometimes, boutique places tend to exaggerate when it comes to drinks so we were haply surprised by the selection and prices of wines. The hotel uses a lot of local produce so at breakfast the food was equally good. On check out, we were offered to leave our luggage which again is a great service as the weather was nice and sunny so we wanted to go for a long walk on the beach front. All in all, we would definitely go back and do not hesitate to recommend this little boutique hotel in Brighton, a real hidden gem.

A disgrace to Brighton. Trying to get a good nights sleep on broken glass would be easier than staying here. Meant to be a relaxing night away from home with a bit of shopping. Turned out to be more stressed when we got home than when we left. Noisy hotel with banging and slamming up until gone 11pm when we left to return home due to the noise. Apparantly it was one of their 'corporate customers' who it seems can do no wrong as nothing was said to them. It seems we could put up or shut up. TV's blaring through the walls, hammering going on downstairs at 10:30pm, staff slamming doors, etc. Bed was covered in dust and grime upon arrival and the carpets were badly stained, although I don't want to know what with. I had 100% better service from Harold Shipman when I went for a checkup, that's how bad this hotel is! After requesting a refund I was belittled by the owner and told that he "looks forward to me taking this matter further". NO APOLOGY, NO REFUND, NO WAY I'M EVER GOING BACK.

I stayed in this charming Hotel in Brighton a month ago. I was looking for a low cost Hotel in Brighton that offered good amenities, nice food and a bit of character. I found just the place - the New Steine Hotel. It is centrally located - very near the seaside. The staff are great and the food was pretty decent for a Hotel. If any is looking at Brighton Hotels for a short break, look no further if you are looking for quality at a low cost!
