I' m 69 years old and earned every year. I lived most of my life in a rural area but have lived in and visited many larger cities. But, I admit I prefer the quiet life, now that I am getting older. I adore my children and their spouses, and I love my four grandchildren. I am presently doing some writing; poetry, family history and short short stories based on family tales.

I thought I would share this with everyone. I hope it is acceptable.  Jesus is my Lord and Savior and most of my writings are inspired by my feeling for Him and those who love Him. I wrote this several years ago.  I write many such as this. Sometimes they rhyme, sometimes not.~ NettieG

I Said a Prayer for You
Nettie Grooms (2008)

I said a prayer for you today. Did you feel it -
Like a cool gentle breeze on a sun-bright, windless day;
Like a sparkling ray of sunlight when the clouds just won’t go away?

I said a prayer for you today. Did you see it -
In the warm knowing smile of someone who is usually very cool;
In the way things worked out with a problem that fit no rhyme or rule?

I said a prayer for you today. Did your heart tell you -
When time passed in just a few short hours, and you realized you felt a peace where there had been none;
When you sensed the sweet presence of love and protection, in a time when you felt so alone?

I said a prayer for you today, and if you sensed just some small release from life’s daily cares;
I know our Father heard, because He’s always waiting, listening, to answer all our prayers.

Please vote for my granddaughter, Abigail O'Steen to win the $1000 scholarship in the Dr. Pepper Tuition Giveaway which will give her a chance for the $5000 Tuition Giveaway. When her mother's life was taken away so violently, in September, not only did that take away her financial support and help from Abigail, it also took away her best friend. But, Abigail is fighting to complete her college and follow the dreams she discussed and planned with her Mom since finishing high school. Thank you, Nettie Grooms

My beautiful, nineteen year old  granddaughter, Abigail, lost her mother and best friend, Amy, through a senseless and brutal murder Sunday night. Abigail will live all her tomorrows without being able to share or enjoy them with her Mom.

We are all so devastated by the cruel way in which we lost Amy. She was a wonderful mother to Abigail and a dear and much loved person. She was a registered nurse who was loved and admired by patients and co-workers, alike. Her goal in life was to help people and she worked tirelessly doing just that.

Today, my just 10 year old granddaughter brought me a story she wrote about a make believe character called a Meep. She made it up all on her own and gave it character and described it in detail down to its biological make-up. It was fascinating for a child.

This is a colored pencil drawing I created from a photo of my Mom and my granddaughter. Mom was reading her "The Velveteen Rabbit".

I have been following this blog, "Standing in the Rain Ministries" about Infidelity and recovery. Today's post is awesome, and I recommend it to anyone going through this or trying to recover from it.
