Haven't posted anything for a while, mostly due to laziness, but I liked this photo enough to get off my ass and share it.

This was taken in  Marrakech this morning while I was happily getting myself lost (while avoiding vendors who want to sell me stuff and kids who want me to go with them to the tanneries or a hotel).

Edited using Snapseed desktop. I'm glad I bought that app before Google stopped selling it.

Loved this article. No amount of post-processing can make a badly composed/exposed photo good. But proper post-processing can make a well composed/exposed photo just awesome. Ansels Adams made use of all the tools/methods available to him in his days (and invented a few to suite him), so why shouldn't we use all the tools we have available to us today?

Nelson, this does hit a nerve for most photographers.
The question is asked to determine whether a work is a photograph or a graphic arts manipulation (as was alluded to in the article). Photography that is exhibited typically requires a base of definition, not unlike any other art. That base is founded in old school film photography (although there are more types).
As stated in the article, anything that can be accomplished in the dark room may be used in PS and still render the work as a photograph.
I would go out on a limb and say most every work that I’ve seen that has taken “first prize”  in competitions is edited. I also agree with the article that a non-edited photo, may be impressive, but requires a set of parameters that other photos simply cannot be created by. If this conflict exists, should the photographer abandon the work because it cannot be titled “right out of the camera”? …and with the sophistication of today’s camera’s, why not discredit the editing that happens inside the camera? (Bracketing, HDR, etc.) It is after all PhotoShop in your camera in lieu of a computer.
Would a sculptor abandon a work if the tools were inferior?…or would he/she demand more form the tools to finish the work?. …and if so….should they be chastised for using the improved tools?
I read an article recently that stated that the painting masters of old would have loved to have the excellent paints of today. Today’s paints are smoother, more consistent and reliable. If those old masters used the new technology paints, would their work no longer be considered paintings?
My training engrained in me the idea of using your camera to its fullest, and yes, strive to make your final image in your camera. But I have to tell you, I am very glad I have PSElements.

You go to Museums to learn new things. Like, when went to the #Louvre  the other weekend, I was stunned to learn that cats, dogs, falcons (and I think I saw a monkey) were mummified in Ancient Egypt.

My contribution to  #caturday , an Egyptian cat in a museum in Paris.

In ancient times, many animals were seen as direct connection to the gods/goddesses, and were often considered deities. Bast, the Egyptian goddess, was often seen in hieroglyphs half human/half cat, or, a very well bejeweled cat, often black or leopard printed. This Egyptian can in your pic, is a symbol for the goddess Bast.... likely mummified for the goddess's protection against evil during the after life transition of whomever this may have been buried with. :)

+Nate Ruess of +Fun. during his concert here in #luxembourg  last September 29. I've loved their music for the longest time and I've been listening to their album non-stop before the concert. But listening to them live was just something else. I mean, I danced! And I never dance. They were just that awesome!!!

Early in the year, I thought 2012 would be a disappointing year of concerts for me. But it seems I was wrong, and I've seen a lot of great shows this year: Mumford & Son, Snow Patrol, Fun., Lost Prophets, Two Door Cinema Club, Biffy Clyro, Jason Mraz, The Cranberries...

I'm capping my concert line-up this year with Florence + the Machine, who  just did an absolutely BRILLIANT show this evening.

I'm just posting just this one photo from the concert for #welovemusicwednesday  curated by

I'd like to post more, but I'm beat. So good night folks!

Sometimes the world can make you feel
You're not welcome anymore
And you beat yourself up
You let yourself get mad
And in those times when you stop lovin'
That woman I adore
You can relax
Because, babe, I got your back

I don't wish to change you
You've got it under control
You wake up each day different
Another reason for me to keep holdin' on
I'm not attached to any way you're showing up
I'm just gonna love you like the woman I love
