Last weekends test ride, the 2014 Specialized Roubaix Disc. A very good bike for £1500 although I'm not entirely convinced about disc brakes on road bikes but I'm sure I'll change my tune in wet weather.

It's certainly a great bike, I'm on the fence with those who thick that at this price point a good aluminium frame with a few 105 components would result in an overall better bike.

This is great news, hopefully I won't need to swap out my SIM for local network the next time I'm in Poland for more than a few days.

Could this be the end of roaming charges? Today #roaming is 91% cheaper than 7 years ago, but Members voted to cut the costs of international mobile traffic completely. Read more @ epgplus.eu/px and +1 if you would like to say farewell to roaming once and for all!

This actually works surprisingly well, it chokes a little bit on 1080p, er, "streams" but thats probably our laptop but if you're trying out a popular movie which is 720p it starts up pretty much instantaneously.

Since around December I've been, um, "reviewing" films.
I recently caught this on MUBI (at time of writing it expires) as they're having a Charlotte Gainsbourg double bill after the release of her newest film Nymph()maniac which is currently being shown in good cinemas here in the...

I did think whilst watching last weeks episode of Top Gear that the segment about cyclists whilst not exactly funny (Top Gear is a bit hit and miss in that regard) but was actually very insensitive to (even at times mocking) family members of individuals who have been killed or seriously injured on our roads whilst riding bikes.

Top Gear has always reveled in being a bit "laddish" and "politically incorrect" at times (and many, including myself, enjoy that) but last weeks piece was a step too far over the line.

In response to your comment, I drive a van everyday and let me say one point cyclists (and I would say about 90% of them) don't follow the basic highway code. I think the should have to take a test to make them aware of the dangers on the road because most of them think they are invincible

A great restaurant just along the road from Sanctuary of Our Lady of Fatima serving a wide range of dishes including both local and traditional Polish. On the few occasions we’ve visited there has a live band playing fantastic local music as many of the restaurants in the area have but if you visit later in the evening it isn’t quite so busy.

We stayed in the Hotel Patio in August '12 and I cannot recommend this hotel enough especially for anyone visiting the city for the first time as it's in a fantastic central location just a minute walk from the city centre. We didn't stay for dinners but their breakfast menu was excellent, the room was clean with a big screen TV with the usual international channels on the wall plus air conditioning is welcome especially in the summer months. The hotel offers free Wi-Fi but I found it a little patchy in our room at the time, I'm 99% certain there was an Ethernet port for anyone who might be on a business trip and needs a stable/secure connection. Overall, this is the best hotel we've stayed at in Wroclaw to date.

A nice cinema as multiplexes go but a very mainstream selection of films so don't expect anything in a language other than English or anything that cost less than $1m to make. Hollywood guff rules the playlists here.

In the summer this place has excellent outside setting although in the winter the cafe is a little cramped, thankfully there is another Costa upstairs in Waterstones just a couple of doors down with a larger seating plan should this cafe be full which it often is. Service can be a little slow so if they look busy and you're in a rush best avoid.

Certainly the better of such businesses here in Carlisle; its perhaps in an odd location but I'd recommend it if you're looking for somewhere inexpensive and active to entertain the kids.

We visited this charming little shop/cafe over the weekend, the food was lovely and responsibly priced for the area. The only let down really was the speed of service; some food from our order arriving over ten minutes after some others so we all ended up eating at different times rather than altogether as intended.
