Technical questions  -

Hi all,
Looking for a little help. I want to segment my analytics by people who have visited a specific screen. I can't work out how to do this. Any suggestions?

Nice little app here called Clever Parrot - https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.gmail.ccc.Clever_Parrot&hl=en_GB

You have to work out missing words in some fun poems, find the odd one out in a number of lists (find the noun, find the spelling mistake).

It has some flaws (the instructions for the odd one out keep repeating, adverts for the Economist in a kids app shows they haven't configured the advertising perfectly, the abck button closes the app rather than goes back) but it could be useful to use in a one to one situation with a young learner learning
English made fun by the antics of Clever Parrot and his family. This app co...

Also have another question. When implementing Google App Analytics, should you create separate properties for each platform. E.g. if I have app A on App Store and Google Play, should I use the same property or create two separate ones?

Thanks +Ranyere Rodrigues - I think I had actually done it right. But was fooled as there was nothing showing. I think this is just because it is taking some time to populate. Some data is now coming through a day later.

Some of my thoughts on learning French with Duolingo and Busuu. Not learning English I know but both services also have learning English functions so it is relevant to this group.

I'm going to share some thoughts of learning French with a couple of elearning tools – Duolingo and Busuu. As someone who works in digital language learning I feel I need to spend time learning a language digitally. I've been using both tools on the desktop and the apps.

Hi all,

Tried this in the course forum but no responses. Going to try here.

In the course they recommend viewing the analytics reports through admob rather than through GA itself. Why is this preferred?

Neil

Thanks,

Neil

English at your students' fingertips - an article for teachers on the British Council's range of smartphone apps: http://www.teachingenglish.org.uk/article/english-your-students-fingertips
There is a lot the teacher can help with but for students to really get ahead, time spent in the classroom is not enough; they need lots of practice outside class too.

Interesting article on Duolingo: http://www.slate.com/articles/life/inside_higher_ed/2014/07/carnegie_mellon_partners_with_duolingo_a_language_learning_app_to_make_it.html

I'm skeptical about duolingo. It's undoubtedly fun and I was quite addicted to learning Spanish but got bored quite quickly when asked to produce sentences that you'd never use in real language like "I am a penguin".
This story originally appeared in Inside Higher Ed. Carnegie Mellon University is partnering with Duolingo, one of its spinoffs, to see if a 20-minute, $20 test is sufficient to prove international students’ English proficiency. Duolingo, meanwhile, hopes its test can upend the market. Duolingo, a crowdsourced Web translation project created...
