Wrote a Limerick in honor of the weather:

Today, a man went straight to Hell
He found it was cold there as well
It was circle nine
From Dante's great rhyme
Accursed he froze where he fell

Keep warm everybody!

Worth a watch.

I discussed the same phenomenon a couple years ago here:

Who here was run into the atheist who insists on reading the Bible as containing only literal truth, ignoring the genres contained in the Bible, which is more of a library of books than a single book?

This video shows you how to go about refuting these simplistic arguments against Christianity.

UPDATE:

The same type of thing is frequently done by Christians (especially of the fundamentalist sort) against atheism and atheists.

The point of the post isn't to refute or even critique atheism or atheists, rather it is to critique faulty reasoning that's some thing we all should agree on.

ORIGINAL POST:

This video delves into

Why and how (most/many) atheists( e.g. Bill Maher, most online atheists, etc.), misread the Bible and think that reading is the way to "disprove" Christianity (or God in general).

If you want to critique something, you have to understand it first.

Case in point, people who want to "disprove" evolution (which I, of course, believe is true) by saying "it is absurd to believe that two apes copulated and out burst a human being." That doesn't disprove evolution. It misunderstands it (i.e. creates a straw man and tears it down).

Critique the Bible. Critique Christianity. Critique religion. But do it intelligently, not for the sake of believers, but for the sake of intelligent, rational, discourse. Pax

I wrote more on this here:

post scriptum no response by me shall be made to any comment that comes from someone who fails to intelligently respond to the video below and the linked to post above. Commenting without reading/ watching is exactly the behavior I'm opposing with this post.
