An interesting article for anyone considering spending some time living here. Quote "The idea of living permanently or part-time in Turkey is still a dream for many potential expats, but the over-riding question asked by many is how much does it cost? Including property, healthcare, running costs such as electricity and essentials such as food, people want to know whether Turkey, in 2016, still gives you more bang for your buck? So, let's take a look at some of the average costs involved."

Been 3 times and hopefully going back again this year! Have you been to the Blue Mosque in Istanbul?

A stunning and dramtic picture of the Blue Mosque in Istanbul. The Sultan Ahmed Mosque or Sultan Ahmet Mosque (Turkish: Sultan Ahmet Camii) is a historic mosque in Istanbul, Turkey. The mosque is popularly known as the Blue Mosque for the blue tiles adorning the walls of its interior.
It was built from 1609 to 1616, during the rule of Ahmed I.

This summer is the ideal time to travel to Turkey, because there are loads of ridiculously cheap bargains flying about. As I come across them, I will update this page and the first is from Rent 'n Connect in Turkey, mobile hotspot providers. It is for those who are travelling to Istanbul but not yet decided where to stay - more details here : https://www.rentnconnect.com/amazing-april-special/

Did you know that coffee is big business in Turkey? We all like our caffeine, whether it is traditional Turkish coffee or modern culture

Sorry Roger, I didn't see this comment until now. The notification didn't show up. I wish I had photographs of many of my earlier travels as well. The wonders of technology now.

This is one of my favourite places to tour in Istanbul. It has one of the world's largest chandeliers and pure silk carpets as well as crystal staircases and gold on the ceilings!

One of the most famous Ottoman palaces is Dolmabahce. Touring the Dolmabahce palace is a journey of extravagance and mystery because though it was based on western architectural trends, some aspects of Ottoman traditions still remained. From the entrance, the first building standing with a majestic façade is the Selanik used as the men’s quarters and the center of rule for the Ottoman government. If you are headed here on holiday this year, here are some Turkish  drinks that you should try.

The saying goes “when in Rome, do as the Romans do,” and the same principle should be applied to Turkey because the diversity of Turkish culture can enhance your holiday. It is easy to experience all things Turkish and one way is by tasting the national beverages of the country. From nonalcoholic to alcoholic to weird and bizarre, some drinks are must-tries while in the country.

Stunning photo by +BarefootPlusTravel of the Istanbul skyline and Bosphorus. Can you spot the Galata tower in the background? The Bosphorus strait connects the sea of Marmara to the Black Sea and separates Europe and Asia. By : https://www.barefootplustravel.com/istanbul-bosphorus-cruise-two-continents-bosphorus-cruise

One of the best preserved Hellenistic theatres. We arrived early and hardly anyone was there. Long walk up to the beginning of the ruins so if it is hot, wear a hat and have water ready.

It was my second visit and this time, I went on a tour and enjoyed it a lot more. A guide really does bring the place alive although the signage is good if you don't have one.

Turkey has a heatwave on at the moment so avoid visiting it in midday. Instead try to get there early or late at night but most of all see the Roman theatre

I have used this company for private tours in Pamukkale and Cappadocia. Top notch service on both occasions. It was great to have my own guide and driver. We were also able to deviate from the itinerary if I wanted to see something at the last minute. Perfect days out and would use them again
