The spirit of the Dharma is alive and flourishing among the daughters of the Buddha. ~ N xx

'Venerable Chi Kwang Sunim was leading the practice. Her comforting voice, at once grandmotherly and stately, soon had me at ease. As I settled in, allowing my thoughts and restless itches and twitches to subside, I felt suddenly aware of the feminine presence in the room. It was one of stability and peace. I was being held by the energy of my sisters in the Dharma.

It was an experience befitting the event: the inauguration of Sakyadhita Australia, a non-profit, non-sectarian organisation founded to connect and support local Buddhist women.

Sakyadhita means daughters of the Buddha, and the International organisation, with which the local branch will be affiliated, was founded in 1987 in Bodhgaya, India, under the patronage of His Holiness the Dalai Lama...'

"We stand on our own feet. The fruits of our labor taste sweeter. Even though we are gnawing on steam buns, we find peace in our hearts."

Some days it's easy to feel overwhelmed. Some days it's tempting to play the victim of circumstance. And some days you catch yourself wrapped up in a self-centred motivation. But then, if you're lucky, you hear about a blind man and an armless man working together to plant trees -- through cooperation they overcome the seemingly impossible and make a noble living if ever there was one.

Thank you to my dear friend who shared this article today; it puts a lot into perspective!  I am overcome with #gratitude and #inspiration

"We just did a study on yoga for people with PTSD. We found that yoga was more effective than any medicine that people have studied up to now. That doesn't mean that yoga cures it, but yoga makes a substantial difference in the right direction."
