This is such a powerful post about why we value (and participate in) communities.

Community is not about brands or organizations who try to organize followers; community is about the people, the members.

Thanks, +Nancy Rubin! The more I participate, the more value I discover -- often in unexpected ways. Some people and organizations may still consider online communities "only" a sort of grand social experiment, but for many of us, the experience is very, very real. What do others in this G+ circle think?

Talk about transparency! How do you feel about making everyone's salary public?

I worked for a state university in Florida and everyone's salary was public information. You could download a spreadsheet that had everyone in the university's salary.

Do you think that is motivating or demotivating?

I really appreciate this from companies. The more transparency the better. It forces more companies to rise to the occasion, and in most cases treat employees fairly. +Buffer released all of their employees salaries as well and included the formula. I don't know, I guess for me it's about setting a standard.

Career Strategy  -
Number 1 is a big one for me. I hate socializing with people who are constantly scanning the room for someone they think is more important or a better connection.

"You're not really there. You walk in to a crowded room and immediately get caught in a conversation. You shake hands, but your eyes are wandering -- taking in the room and trying to find the person you really want to meet."

That is the worst and totally rude.

I hate office politics. However, as I advance in my career it is something that one has to deal with. How about you? Do you hate office politics, too?
