The House GOP's priorities?
1. Waste taxpayer dollars.
2. Ignore job creation.
Share this if you think America deserves better.

As someone who grew up in Baltimore, the Washington football team has always held a special place in my heart.  The team name is another matter.  For so many Native Americans, this name has long stood as a deep offense – an affront to the dignity of their heritage, and an insult to the proud identity they hope to pass on to their children and their grandchildren.

Today’s actions by the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office are in line with longstanding rules on the treatment of disparaging or offensive names.  While we respect the right to free speech, slurs have no right to trademark protections.

The team that represents our nation’s capital should be a source of pride to all Americans.  It’s long past time for the Washington football team to choose a new name.

United States centre-back John Brooks scored a stunning header to give the United States the 2-1 lead over Ghana.

The President has made clear the situation in Iraq is not one that can be solved without its leaders demonstrating a willingness to make hard decisions and compromises to bring their country together.  First and foremost, Iraq’s leaders must step up and work with all Iraqis to overcome the sectarian differences that are crippling their country.

They must do more to strengthen the capacity and the morale of Iraq’s security forces, and ensure these forces hold true to their duty to the Iraqi people.  Taking these actions is the only way to achieve lasting security, stability and prosperity for all the people of Iraq.

I was pleased by the President’s assurances that he will not send U.S. troops back into combat in Iraq.  Congress looks forward to receiving additional intelligence and information regarding the military, humanitarian and other support options being considered by the Administration. #Iraq

For 50 years, the Civil Rights Act has stood as one of the great legislative achievements in our history: a pillar of fairness, justice and equality, and a monument to countless acts of courage that brought it into being.

This law was built by the daily heroism, dignity, and defiance of millions of Americans crying out for justice – daring to dream of a day beyond the segregation and the discrimination that cleaved our nation.

As we observe this anniversary, we must renew our commitment to reclaim the cornerstone of our democracy and pass a renewed, revised, and strengthened Voting Rights Act. Together, we will continue to advance the cause of civil rights in America, and carry forward the legacy of leadership that has made so much of our nation’s progress possible.

+M.L. McCarren you seem to be very sure of your position as a Patriot, but my oh my, did you ever forget the premise of this entire discourse... "Let us close the springs of racial poison. Let us pray for wise and understanding hearts. Let us lay aside irrelevant differences and make our nation whole." LBJ - 7/2/62

Blind indifference to whose plight? Are you suggesting yours our my own?

Hard to tell from my perspective. You blocked me for calling you a troll and demonstrating the fact with your own words you posted, quoted from your direct dialog with me.

To you, my calling the Confederacy a farce government that led to the slaughter of hundreds of thousands is pure prejudice. Your idea of apparent apathy is cheering for the removal of the Dixie flag from the state houses, courthouses and schoolhouse premises.

There isn't any old sentiment involved here.

You are alive and well, I presume, and I think we may be blood related. I call you my neighbor and I have absolutely no problem with your registering and voting your conscious.

You on the other hand think you are entitled to an expired privilege that I have repeatedly attributed to you increasing social disability. You want to dictate to myself and everyone else the terms of your civility. To which I have politely ridiculed you right off the Internet several times.

I will be happy to do it again.

I am sure you will be embarrassed and obliged to settle, as had your protégé, for repetitive disfunction as a substitute for recognition that you aren't anything more than what I have discribe.

Jesse Jackson knew what he was trying to do was right when he marched with Dr. King. We believe you know you aren't supporting a benefit to mankind cause. The fact that you keep trying to convince us that we are your enemy and you are our master just seems to dismiss your pretensions without any need for arguing with you. And yet, to u argue for those as facts.

However, ever so often when you muster the courage born of misguided racial animosity to raise a ruckus about your idea of appropriate thinking, right mindedness, and precise vision. Then, Bush happens...

What then? Do/did you just turn on the apathy and look the other way while people were drowning in New Orleans?

Heck, folks drowning in South Carolina today, but it's not because Obama or anyone American of African descent blew up a levy, stationed themselves on bridges with high powered rifles and denied them exit from the danger zone or failed to execute emergency action at the state or federal level. That hasn't ever happened but you insist, we are the problem with the nation.

The real injustices are addressed in courts, hospitals, and schools. You polluted the courts, shut down the healthcare facilities, and close the schools. Then you say, that is what we deserve for not being more like you?

Yeah, that is what you are saying, Dude. That you think you are favored by a God that despises us. That your right to be bigoted is not economic first then founded on violence as an alternative to cooperation.

Your God is unreasonable to me. He favors persons who disobey the commands you publish and then you claim exclusion without reasonable explanation of your right to deferred adjudication for the same sins as you declare crime and imprison others for.

I think your attitude is that you are an adult an all others are children is very dismissive of the fact that it is pure smoke and mirrors to the reality of your true feelings.

You really are just a troll and hate to be declared racist and bigoted publicly. Truth is, no one really cares anymore but you. After 66 week without hearing from you on this theme, you could have stayed silent for all you added to this dialogue.

With the #HobbyLobby decision, the Supreme Court took an outrageous step against the rights of America’s women, setting a dangerous precedent that could permit for-profit corporations to pick and choose which laws to obey. This deeply misguided and destructive decision is a serious blow to Americans’ ability to make their own health decisions

Allowing employers and CEOs to limit the health care available to employees is a gross violation of their workers’ religious rights. It’s just not her boss’s business. No employer should have the right to limit the health choices of its employees, male or female. #NotMyBossBusiness

A year ago today, the Supreme Court struck a blow to the Voting Rights Act, landmark legislation that serves as the sentinel of every American’s right to vote. We cannot be silent, and we will not tolerate discrimination in our democracy. It’s time for Congress to renew the Voting Rights Act. #VRA4today

Helping swear in my father, Thomas D'Alesandro Jr., as Mayor of Baltimore.

A public servant in the truest sense, his #FathersDayWish was that I—and all of America's sons and daughters—would find no obstacles on our paths to reaching our goals. Happy #FathersDay to every dad who is helping his children's dreams come true.
