My followup on the skydiving meteorite, with quotes from many involved.  And yes, I admit to being a perhaps overly enthusiastic in my previous article....
For all those involved with the initial investigation of the skydiver and the possible meteorite, they now feel they have resolution to their puzzle, thanks to the beauty of crowdsourcing. The rock that showed up in a video taken during a skydive in Norway in 2012 was likely just a rock -- accidentally packed in…

+Rich Peall and +Emma Goudie  , my original suspicions sadly seem to be probable. I know it was a cool story, and I also would have liked it to be a meteorite.

Though this made me smile:
“So, no meteorite, but a good story,” he said good-naturedly in his email to Universe Today. “Our mood is still good, and we talk about putting up a plaque at ground zero: “On 17th June 2012 a pebble fell here, witnessed by 6 million people on YouTube”.

I've been having computer issues ever since upgrading to Windows 8.1 (from 8) and so I'm seriously considering resetting my computer to factory settings. Anyone ever done that? Is it a good idea?

Sorry +GIZMODO (and +Sports Illustrated Swimsuit ) taking pictures of a bikini-clad woman in zero G was not done "because science" ....  its exploitation, sexist and it objectifies women. I'm not against celebrating the beauty of the female form, but not when women are presented as toys to be ogled at... or worse.

Could not agree more. We went to a craft beer festival in NYC this past Saturday, and one of the breweries actually had several bikini clad women pouring their beer. I refused to even try their beer simply because of this. And, for the record, there were probably just as many women in attendance as men, so they cannot use the excuse that they were catering to their audience.

For the same reason, when at all possible, I refuse to have anything to do with a "national web-hosting company" because of their exploitative commercials, and I have very little respect for the woman NASCAR driver who has this company as her major sponsor.

The remarkable story of skydiver almost getting hit by meteor is confirmed by scientists and the skydiver in my article today:

http://www.universetoday.com/110963/norwegian-skydiver-almost-gets-hit-by-falling-meteor-and-captures-it-on-film/
It sounds like a remarkable story, almost unbelievable: Anders Helstrup went skydiving nearly two years ago near Hedmark, Norway and while he didn’t realize it at the time, when he reviewed the footage taken by two cameras fixed to his helmet during the dive, he saw a rock plummet past him. He took it to…

3 years ago today I was at the final launch of space shuttle Discovery. It was a heart-stopping countdown, but resulted in a beautiful launch on a gorgeous day. #OTD
