Modern day society is different and not all change is bad. Some change is just that: change. Can't we all just evolve along with it?
I get sick and tired of people who whine and complain or roll their eyes and judge others (ok, mainly me) who use social networking tools like Facebook, Twitter or Google+ to accomplish THE SAME DAMN THING. And why is it sooooooo scary?
"I don't care what people had for lunch, so why should I use Twitter?"
"Facebook games are a waste of time, so why should I join Facebook?"
"I'd rather speak to people face to face or call them instead. People don't talk to each other anymore. What's this world coming to?"
"This generation of kids is out of touch. All they do is text each other."
"No, I'm not on Facebook. I actually talk to my friends."
"No, I don't do the Facebook because I don't want everyone knowing my business."
These are just some of the passive/aggressive comments I hear on a regular basis and I really believe people either: just miss the point, don't understand, don't want to understand, fear change, fear the unknown — or are some combination of all of the above. Now, that's all well and good FOR THEM, but I am just NOT OK with people passing judgement on MY personal or public use of social media.
The fact that you're reading this around a virtual watercooler right now is proof that you most likely do not fit the above description. You might think it's pointless for me to kvetch about this here, but remember what I said about how we are social and we tend to socialize with those who we are most likely to feel supported by and understood?
So, I ask, what do you say to people who seem to scorn you for your preferred method of socialization? The snarky comments they make - are they supposed to make me feel like I'm moronic, inefficient or wasting my time? Or are they just unknowingly highlighting their own rigidity and I should just shrug it off? I don't know why it bugs me. It just does. There's no point in discussing it with people who refuse to use the tools and embrace the technology.
BTW, could ya pass me that beer, a scissors and oh, go fish! </rant>
I just had some issues trying to flash the stock 4.2.2 takju image to my Galaxy Nexus.
Things to know:
- The phone originally had the yakju rom before I tried to update.
- Flashing the boot loader and radio from the takju 4.2.2 tgz archive went fine
- Handset boots OK and so far the 4.2.1 yakju rom runs OK.
- Here's the adb output form the failed flash attempt:
.fastboot -w update image-yakju-jdq39.zip
archive does not contain 'boot.sig'
archive does not contain 'recovery.sig'
archive does not contain 'system.sig'
Bootloader Version...: PRIMELC03
Baseband Version.....: I9250XXLJ1
ERROR: usb_read failed with status e00002ed
getvar:serialno FAILED (status read failed (No such file or directory))
finished. total time: 0.022s
I'd like to complete the move to takju and replace the rom image.
Have any of you seen this before?
Did you find a solution, if so what?
Thanks in advance for any help given.
I think it incumbent upon me to point out that the cast of Red Dwarf look older because....... they are older. Craig was 23 when he did the first series in 1988, he's now .... a bit older. Danny is also a bit older but he still wears the same costumes he wore in the 1st series. Kryten has some extra hard drive installations in his mid section but his groinal attachment can still suck the chrome off door handles.
