ITBS pain is usually located along the outside of the knee during running often associated with a “locking up” sensation. ITBS can be caused by a number of factors including weak hip musculature (mainly gluteus medius), over pronation of your foot (foot rolling in), poor running form while increasing mileage too quickly, or downhill running too quickly.
