Our 2015 production of The Nutcracker - 2017 Production will be coming soon!

One of the many comments after the show:
I'm writing on behalf of my family to say 'WOW', 'Congratulations' and 'Thank you'!
Wow! What a show! We loved every minute. I had tears in my eyes and goosebumps (when my kids weren't even on stage!). Congratulations on such a fine production. I'm so impressed by your attention to detail and efforts to ensure it was as immensely enjoyable for the audience as it was for all of your students to be involved in.

Improvisation is an important tool for any professional dancer and is a skill that is often required from a dancer under pressure such as when creating an original work with a new choreographer. In all my contemporary classes I spend time honing this skill through various tasks and exercises, however it is not often that students are made to improvise under pressure. With this in mind we decided to make the @newcastleballettheatre full time students improvise at the mid year show in June. It has been fabulous watching these dancers evolve in their ability to improvise. They were given this task onstage in front of the audience and didn't even get to hear the music first. Here is a little snippet of what they came up with....enjoy ❤️#contemporary #improvisation #impro #dancersofig #dancelove #contemporarydance #dancer #dancers #choreography #choreographer #passion

Tonight's stimulus.... Babushka dolls.... create 7 counts of tiny intricate choreography, then replicate and expand it 4 times. So impressed with how these dancers tackled this creative task.... just beautiful @newcastleballettheatre #choreography #contemporary #contemporarydance #babushkadoll #intricatemovement #improvisation

To me one of the things that sets apart a good technician from an artist is their ability to transition intelligently between the technical components. It is these transitions that can transform well rehearsed movement into art. I just love working with @newcastleballettheatre full time student @millie_rose19 because even when she's learning something for the first time she just gets it

On Friday, our combined Pre-Senior and Full Time Contemporary dancers had the pleasure of the incredibly talented Naomi Smith accompany them. Here is the favourably talented Sally Forest Egan dancing with Full Time dancers Lillia Grubb, Jackson Bell, and Gemma Sattler.
