Rouhani stopped short of saying Assad should remain in power. Instead, he stressed that Syria's boundaries and territory remain unchanged, and that the country's leadership be decided by voters.

"What is of utmost importance is to understand that Syria doesn't have a military solution," Rouhani told NBC News' Chuck Todd.

At least 20 civilians and one Red Cross staff member died in the strike Monday in the outskirts of Aleppo — threatening a fragile truce that began on Sept. 12.

White House officials say the U.S. prefers to continue with the ceasefire in Syria, but is concerned by Russia's failure to show good faith.

"Based on the ongoing investigation, Yahoo believes that information associated with at least 500 million user accounts was stolen and the investigation has found no evidence that the state-sponsored actor is currently in Yahoo's network. Yahoo is working closely with law enforcement on this matter," said Bob Lord, Yahoo's chief information security officer, in a statement on Thursday afternoon.

A White House staffer's email appears to have been hacked, leaking material ranging from personal documents belonging to Michelle Obama to how many stairs the Secret Service counted Joe Biden would climb during a trip to Cleveland.

Emails apparently sent from the Gmail account of a young staffer were made public by the group DC Leaks.

A notebook carried by New York and New Jersey bombing suspect Ahmad Khan Rahami makes it clear that the United States is under a serious new threat from ISIS-inspired domestic terrorists, top government intelligence experts said.
The emergence of lone-wolf home-grown attackers explicitly inspired by ISIS is changing the 'threat picture,' authorities say.

This article doesn't quite convince me. Anyone can have a notebook and write whatever they want in it. If I write in a notebook that an Archangel talks to me, it doesn't mean that I do or that I'm crazy. I'd take this discovery with a grain of salt, analyze it properly and then report on the results. Terrorist groups are currently a great cover for a lot of unstable, crazy people that suddenly feel validated to go out and make true their murderous fantasies. I could even imagine that this terrorist group is more than happy claiming the work of any deluded madman as part of their plan. Let's use our brains a little before we go stupidly around helping spread panic.

The armed man fatally shot by North Carolina cops Tuesday was given multiple warnings to drop his weapon, police officials said in the wake of violent late-night clashes between law enforcement and protesters.

'The officers gave loud, clear verbal commands which were also heard by many of the witnesses,' the police chief said.

After 80 booms there seemed little point in keeping a tally.

Whatever their origin, the explosions that reverberate across the Syrian city of Aleppo have made their point.

There is no real cease-fire here, no demilitarization and little hope of humanitarian aid reaching hundreds of thousands of civilians marooned by this conflict.
NBC News heard more than 100 thuds, bangs and blasts on Sunday and into Monday morning. This was audible evidence the truce had all but unraveled.
