The +SpaceX #Dragon commercial cargo craft approached the International Space Station on May 24, 2012 for a series of tests to clear it for its final rendezvous and grapple on May 25. At 3:58 a.m. (EDT), Dragon performed a height adjust burn to bring it to a path 2.4 kilometers below the station. During this “fly-under,” Dragon established UHF communication with the station using its Commercial Orbital Transportation Services (COTS) Ultra-high frequency Communication Unit (CUCU). Dragon performed a test of its Relative GPS system, which uses the relative positions of the spacecraft to the space station to determine its location. On May 25, Expedition 31 Flight Engineers Don Pettit and Andre Kuipers will use the Canadarm2 robotic arm to grapple the supply ship about 8:06 a.m., with the berthing to the Earth-facing side of the station’s Harmony node following about 11:20 a.m. Dragon is scheduled to spend about a week docked with the station before returning to Earth on May 31 for retrieval.

Looking forward to tomorrow! GO DRAGON AND SPACEX!!!

Is the "trunk" shadowed in this pic? ie, why is it black?

Congratz to everyone for this milestone!!!

Wow!! Excellent photo.

I remember when Space X started up. It's definitely been the most efficient startup to lead the for-profit space race. Hopefully this will free up NASA for more cutting edge research/projects

THAT IS AWESOME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I can't imagin how much science evolved from since i was young

everything should be private...because its cheaper!

That's neat, I did not know that #Dragon was recoverable.

wait...... thats fake!! its photo shopped

A very expensive trashcan if it was... :P Uhm, if you actually read the text you'll know what it is! Hehe

I saw this headline on the hotel news channel as I was waiting for my car yesterday. Seeing the ticker across the bottom of the screen made me feel as if I was in 2012.

Great to see privatization of space.

Stop spamming a lot of crap pls... And if you're posting a link, make sure you get it right from the start! sigh

The smoke from the rocket would be negligible compared to all the smoke from the factories and motor vehicles.

Awesome stuff. I hope the docking goes off without any problems.
AJ Rise

The odds of that thing actually docking sucessfully are high, given the technology.

Fantastic to see this mission moving along so well!

+AJ Rise One way or another it'll dock... Some might call it a crash into the station, some a VERY hard docking, lol. Let's hope it works as intended, hehe!

Obama unwittingly created a private market for space travel by trying to destroy NASA shuttle program. At least in his idiocy he has finally done something.

way to go, NASA and SpaceX! Here's to another century of space achievements :-)

freaking awesome!! freaking history in the freaking making! such a huge landmark! it blows my mind that this isn't being trumpeted across all media outlets! the FIRST commercial/private/non-government space craft to successfully launch with the intention of, & with plans to, soon dock with the ISS. is anyone else as proud/happy/flippin ecstatic about this as me??

this needs to be plastered across all the major networks, like the moon-landing of the 60's! this needs to be causing small children of our age to want to apply to NASA or start their own "spacex" type of company in their back yard! it needs to be causing people to look up & catch their breath, realizing how effing HUMONGOUS it is! not just/only those of us here that aren't turning it into a political discussion...

yes and lets hope that what we do has a positive effect on mankind

希望一切顺利,hope everything goes well
A Train

stop peaking chinese

Um why did you just copy and paste the post of NASA

its different if u look at the WHOLE thing

Big day for commercial space business!

Great news! Wouldn't this be wonderful if the continuing privatization of space were to open up more public funds for unmanned planetary exploration.

Next stop: earth-orbit crossing asteroids

Don't you mean private investment? There are no public funds left.

Go, Go, Go Space-X. I'm so proud that we're keeping the space program going in spite of Washington DC.

is that what you call as cool?
