The last couple of weeks I shot two senior portrait sessions that I think turned out really well. Both of these clients are really into sports. The first girl below is actually being coached to go to the Olympics for the hammer toss and the second is a softball player. I think both of them would have much rather been playing sports than posing for pictures, but I think we got along well and had fun with the pictures. I’ve never been enthused abou...

I’ve been doing a lot of these surprise marriage proposals recently. I think it’s because I’ve blogged about it a number of times and clients must be seeing my posts. Whatever the reason I always really enjoy doing these so I hope I keep getting more. I believe this proposal really was a surprise, she was under the impression we were just doing couple portraits of the whole family.  I took some pictures of the 5 different couples including parent...

I had a lot of fun with another photographer Hannah Ruth working on some sparker and light painting pictures at the beach. We did this by spinning steel wool in a wisk behind the couple on the beach.

I always love photographing weddings down near the inlet area of Pawleys Island. This wedding was small and relaxed without a large bridal party. The bride was getting ready at her parents home and the ceremony was at the small chapel on the marsh in Pawleys Island. The chapel is really nice because the big windows overlooking the marsh let in a lot of soft light that hits the couple during the ceremony. The only problem is because it’s so much b...

I just put up a new blog post, this one is a little different than usual. I put up some pictures but I also geeked out about the benefits of prime lenses. If you are into photography it might be helpful, and if not there are still some cute pics. https://www.ryansmithphotography.com/blog/2015/08/08/taking-family-pictures-to-the-next-level-with-all-prime-lenses-including-the-nikon-85mm-f1-4g-lens/
Taking family pictures to the next level by using all prime lenses including the Nikon 85mm f1.4G. Some tips and thoughts on switching to all primes.

Ryan took photos of my family for my 50th birthday. He did an amazing job especially dealing with a large family with ages from 10 months to 55 years. The pictures are by far the best ever taken of my family and I have memories that have been reserved for ever! THANKS AGAIN!

Ryan Smith gave my fiance and I an experience we will never forget! We were nervous about setting up engagement pictures at the beach since we were from out of town. Ryan made the process very easy and was able to make us an appointment without much notice. His quality of pictures and style of photography were great and we are very pleased with the pictures. During the shoot Ryan made us feel very comfortable and I would recommend Ryan to everyone I know looking to get pictures taken in the Myrtle Beach area.

Our family took a trip to Myrtle beach in October. While there, we wanted to get family pictures done. Ryan Smith did an excellent job. It was a great experience. The pictures turned out great and his prices are good. I am very happy!

I knew that I wanted Ryan to be our photographer before I actually met him in person and this was based solely on the amazing photos he posts on his blog (along with some of the interesting commentary for each of his sessions). When we met in person, my fiancé and I didn’t have to look any further! Ryan did our engagement photos in February on the beach and it was freezing cold. We are not from South Carolina and won’t be back in the area until our wedding in May so I wanted to go ahead with the photo shoot anyway. Despite the freezing cold and wind, Ryan still got some really great shots and we all had a lot of fun! I am really looking forward to the wedding and I know that Ryan will do an excellent job. I highly recommend him!

We were lucky enough to find Ryan on the web after a Google search of Myrtle Beach Photographers. Planning our first trip to Myrtle Beach, we were hoping to also get some family photos and our daughter's senior pictures. Although I was a bit nervous about connecting with someone online (hey, I'm old school!) Ryan was very easy to get in contact with and answered all our questions. Once we met up with him at Myrtle Beach State part and he started taking photos, he was able to get our non-photogenic family to relax and we have some wonderful shots to remember our vacation by...not to mention senior pictures that our daughter is thrillled with! If we are able to make it back to the area with our extended family, we would love to schedule another session with Ryan...this time with all 12 of us!

Ryan was fun to work with, prompt, good with the two-year old and the pictures turned out great! We could not have been happier with everything! I totally recommend Ryan for a family portrait on the beach. We will remember this special Murrells Inlet trip forever! The Hawthorne/Hall Family May 2014 Charlotte, NC
