Myokinetics is proud to welcome John Nguyen to the team!
John Nguyen, RMT is a graduate of the Vancouver College of Massage Therapy. He decided to become a massage therapist because he loves helping people. As a therapist, he knows that combining techniques like myofascial release, deep tissue work, and trigger point therapy with relaxation techniques makes for a relaxing, yet effective massage in treating tight muscles from everyday use, tension headaches, TMJ pain or injuries from overuse. At the end of the day he finds great fulfillment knowing he has helped make a difference as he works with his clients to reach their health and lifestyle goals. John’s other passions in life include the outdoors, traveling, animals, jiu-jitsu, and spending time with family and friends.

On Sunday August 21st Myokinetics took part in the 2016 Downtown Port Coquitlam Car Show. As this was Myokinetics first year taking part in the car show it was wonderful to see how many people attended the event. Myokinetics was set up nice and early and much to Krys Dybowski’s, owner of Myokinetics RMTs surprise the downtown core was bustling and people where enjoying the festivities by 9:30am. As you look around you saw many cool cars, people strolling the streets of downtown Port Coquitlam, and kids enjoying the children’s area playing mini golf, rolling in the hamster balls and playing in the Tumblebus that was on site. You could hear the music that was playing and people enjoying themselves in the beer garden, which was right next to some of the commercial vendors. Many people visited the Myokinetics booth to snatch up a lollipop and orange balloon, as well as fill out a ballot to enter to win a muscle recovery kit. While visiting the booth people stopped to watch a virtual tour of the state of the art clinic, learned about massage therapy from therapists’ Krys, Kathy and Tess and booked an appointment on site through their on-line booking system offered at the car show. People liked hearing about Myokinetics RMT as it is located just a minute away from where the booth was set up. Many patients that spoke to our therapists at the car show have recently visited the clinic and booked back for subsequent visits. Thanks to all of those patients that are supporting Myokinetics RMT and the local Port Coquitlam businesses. Krys Dybowski, RMT and owner of Myokinetics Registered Massage Therapy in Port Coquitlam skyped into two grade 4/5 classes at Aspenwood Elementary in Port Moody to help them learn about muscles and bones. Students at Aspenwood in Port Moody had been learning about muscle groups and fitness while they partook in boot camps during the physical education blocks. During the boot camps teachers noticed that students had some great questions that could only be answered by none other then an expert. Krys’s wife Tina is a teacher at the school in Port Moody and had recently been to a Professional Development workshop about creating a virtual classroom where experts can skype in from around the world to help students learn. Tina thought there is no one better to answer questions about muscles and bones then an RMT so why not skype Krys in. When Tina shared this with her teaching partner Kelly she was all for it and after announcing it to the students they just couldn’t wait. Students learned about what muscles were in action when they were practicing for their upcoming track meet and they also learned about what muscles they were using during their boot camp. Students appreciated the time that Krys took and had many moments of clarity through the lesson, as he was able to not only tell them but also show them the muscles he was talking about, as the skype session was projected onto the screen. Students stated “I learned so much about what muscles I was using and how they worked when I was training for track” and “I really like that I know the proper words for the muscles…I kind of feel like a doctor”. In today’s world with Internet and social media students thought that is was so much fun to have someone skype into their classroom. What a great experience for both Krys and the students of Aspenwood Elementary.

On Sunday May 29th Myokinetics spent the day in Port Coquitlam at Leigh Park to support Port Coquitlam’s Polish Days. This was Myokinetics RMT’s first community event since the doors opened in January.  It was extremely exciting to be at an event that was taking place right across the street from the clinic space. Despite the wind in the morning it ended up being a beautiful sunny day. Set up started early in the morning and was finished just in the nick of time as people started to trickle around the park before the day got busy. Thank you to everyone who came out to show their support for the Polish Community, as well as Myokinetics and all other businesses. The performances were well done and the food line ups were around the block as people waited for tasty perogies, Polish sausages and other traditional dishes.  Myokinetics made many people happy giving out lollipops and orange balloons to kids, and two gift certificates for 45 minutes massages! In addition, many people stopped by to say hello and fill out a raffle ticket for a useful Muscle Recovery Kit.
