O glorious Thekla, virginity was your splendor,
The crown of martyrdom your adornment and the faith you trust!
You turned a burning fire into refreshing dew,
And with your prayers appeased pagan fury, O First Woman Martyr!

St. Thekla - Commemorated on September 24

With our patience and daily struggle for repentance, we’ll be delivered from the old, fallen person and be transfigured into someone new. This has occurred in the lives of our saints, who through their miraculous lives show us the path.

Everyone carries a cross of some kind—it might be a learning disability, or a mental deficiency, a chronic illness, or a difficult life circumstance, like losing a child, or losing a parent at a young age. This is the “cross” we carry. To take up our own cross means to again follow Christ’s example when He was on the cross—to forgive, be merciful, caring and trusting.

We ought to think of, and remember God even more than we draw breath.
The constant remembrance of God brings a deep peace and joy to the soul, even during the most difficult situations of life. #myOCN
