Windows 10 is currently runs on 400 million active devices, according to Microsoft. The tech giant announced the number during its Ignite conference currently held in Atlanta. In May this year Microsoft announced its latest OS was running on 300 million devices and in March 200 million devices were running Windows 10.

I don't see why anyone would find this surprising. Most users will not update until the update gets pushed to them via Windows Update.

Microsoft is currently automatically removing the 'Get Windows 10 app' from Windows 7 and Windows 8.1 systems through Windows Update. The heavily criticized app was used to try to convince users of the two preceding Windows versions to upgrade to Windows 10.

A manufacturer of private label ink cartridges for HP printers is working on new "security" chips that should make sure non-HP cartridges are no longer rejected. Consumers can simply replace the old chips with the new ones to start using their non-HP cartridges again.

Microsoft has opened an office in China that allows the Chinese government to check the sourcecode of the software giant for backdoors and other risks. The office is based in Beijing and similar offices can also be found in Brussels and Microsoft's hometown Redmond.

HP has stated that the rejection of non-HP cartridges, which started last week, is deliberate and not a bug. The printer manufacturer also stated it won't release a firmware update to resolve the issue.

HP yesterday officially responded to the acquisitions of pre-programming a failure date of non-HP cartridges in its printers. According to the printer manufacturer it made changes to its software last year to “protect the printers and to protect the communication between the cartridge and the printer”.
