Today we were called about a squirrel problem in an elementary school. It found it's way into the school and all the way into the cooking area. We found it hiding in the oven. We carefully caught it and re-released it outside.

If you think you may have a problem with squirrels, give us a call at 855-900-2287 to set up an inspection.

You can still take care of bats in your attic in the Winter. Although it's not as effective as the rest of the year, we can still do most of the work to prepare for the end of hibernation in the spring.

The first step is the initial inspection. We can look at the entire exterior of the home, and look for any entry points in your eaves, soffits, ridge vents etc. We will leave an estimate with you that day to describe what work needs to be done.

Since bats hibernate during the winter months, they will stay in place until spring. However we can still seal up the problem spots and make sure nothing else can come in, and put the exclusion doors in place for the bats to exit when spring comes and they go out to feed. In mid-spring we will come back and take down the doors and seal up those spots.

Most people know that bats are prone to carry diseases such as rabies and histoplasmosis. Rabies is very dangerous and can be fatal. If you come in contact in your home with a sick or injured bat, it should be removed. However, most bats try to bite when handled out of self defense, so don't use your hands. Use tongs or a shovel, and remove it from your home. If a bat has bitten or scratched someone or a pet in your house, capture the bat without touching it with your hands or crushing it's head. If it is already dead, refrigerate it,(Don't freeze it) and contact the health department immediately for the next steps.

Once the Michigan weather starts to get colder, bats will try to find somewhere to hibernate for the winter. A lot of times they will find spots in your insulation in your attic to keep cozy. A bat will drop its heartbeat from 400 beats per minute when active to 25 beats per minute when in hibernation. As the temperature of the attic goes up and down, bats may move around a bit to find a more comfortable spot. They also drink the moisture of the walls, and urinate periodically. Having bats in your attic for a hibernation period can cause a bit of a mess. If you suspect you may need an attic cleanout or restoration, give us a call at 855 900 BATS.

If you find a bat in your living quarters, don't be alarmed. Simply open all your windows and it will find it's way out. Don't worry about other bats flying in, they're more afraid of you than you think. Don't try to catch it with a towel or sheet, or hit it with anything, because you'll just keep it flying around the house. If you have this problem, chances are you may have a colony in your attic. Call us at 855-900-BATS to find out if we can help remove it.

Bats aren't the only thing that could be hiding in your attic. Squirrels can chew their way through your ridge vents or fascia board to find a new home in your attic, walls or drop ceilings. If you have one you probably have more, because squirrels like to stay together, usually in groups of four or five. They like to chew on wires, wood, drywall, and move around insulation. To remove them, give us a call at 855-900-BATS, and we will come seal up the holes, and put up one way doors for the squirrels to get out of.

There are four types of squirrels in Michigan that could be your culprit. Black squirrels, Red squirrels, fox squirrels and flying squirrels. All of which can do damage to your home, inside and out. Not only will we come get rid of them, but we will repair the damage as well. We will make absolutely sure that your house is sealed up tight.

We set up a humane live trap in the Grand Blanc area to catch a fox and its cubs, instead we caught baby raccoon pups.
