The wild horses of Italy.
THE WILD HORSES OF CAMPO IMPERATORE: High above central Italy, in the shadow of it's highest mountain range, there is an idyllic plain known as Campo Imperatore. It is a never-ending landscape of charming alpine meadows where herds of wild horses graze and shepherds tend their flocks. Here, during the Spring, Summer and Autumn months the animals run free, and in the Winter, they are  driven down to lower altitudes where the climate is more forgiving. It has been this way for centuries, and these revered traditions continue today.

The wild horses of Campo Imperatore are descendants of Arabian bloodlines, and are related to the local Italian breeds known as Sardinian, Murgese and Sicilian, as well as the Camargue of France and Haflingers of Austria. They are extraordinarily hardy, heavy-boned and well-adapted to their environment.
