I am special and unique, just like everybody else.
Introduction
Aging geek girl with a marbled past.  Lots of ambition, no energy.  Cat herder, poodle wrangler, wannabewriter, musician,  book collector, Godzilla analyst, Sherlock Holmes irregular,  crazy person, oversharer.

Ask questions at your own risk.

I am passionate about the books.  If you want to know more about them, let me know.  In fact, if you want to know anything, let me know.  I'm here for the connections.

I have a few circles to which I post specific things, most of which I try not to post to all and sundry just because I'm nice like that.  If you want to be included in one of these circles, let me know and I'll add you in.

Bookie People -- I post about what I read, what I want to read, and what I think about reading here.  If you want to talk books, this is the place.

Crazy Writer People -- This is where I whine about my writing.

Music Lovers -- I subject these poor souls to whatever music is playing on my brain radio.  Also, we stage the occasional ear worm war.
Bragging rights
Blew off Bob Seger while working at a Ren Faire (and thus destroyed my chance at a music career) Two stories published in 2013 "Knowing" in http://eastjasminereview.com/issues/issues/volume-1-issue-1-2/ and "Baggies" in http://emdashliterarymagazine.com/wp-content/uploads/Beginnings.pdf

The Dogwoods are blooming.  They are everywhere, wild and cultivated.  My mother loved dogwoods and tried for years to grow one in Florida.  I think of her when I see them.

For those who need a reminder that yes, it IS Spring, despite nasty weather pranks.

I took Miss M to the South Carolina Botanical Gardens today because SPRING.  Much of the gardens are still blocked off due to the massive flooding last summer, but we had a perfectly good time hanging around the duck pond.

WARNING! CAT PHOTO!

Because I always warn people of that, just in case one of those people who complain about the constant flood of cat photos (damn crazy cat people) somehow has me in a circle and needs to know so they can quickly mute before seeing yet more fur and adorableness.

See that face?  That face belongs to a cat who does not object in the least when I kiss him right on his little black nose, nor does he mind at all when I put my nose right up to his.  You can't see it, but there's also a big, fat, furry belly there for which I have an open invitation to pet at will.

+Jay Jacobs Look familiar?

This has evidently been a thing for going on a year, now.  Point your phone at the top of a Haagen Dasz carton and you get a two-minute "concerto" to encourage you to let the ice cream soften for two minutes before enjoying.  I checked, it's not an April Fools thing, or anything.  We live in amazing times.

Day three

When I walk out of my front door , stand next to where my car is parked in the driveway, and turn to the left, I am facing more or less due north.   That's the view.  If you look very carefully, you can see a tiny sliver of mountains.  I've lived here nearly 6 years and I am still surprised by that sight.

Still scampering. Lately I'm even having to limit car travel. Too much tree sex going on.

Pictures from my everyday, ordinary life.

This is my desk -- at least, the parts that don't have my laptop on them.  It changes every few months as my life, my needs, and my wants change, although the purpose is the same -- to keep near me what inspires me.

The first picture is of the shelf next to my actual desk.  It holds my fish tank,  my printer (not visible), a selection of writing books (also not visible) and notebook/notepads/funny stuff.  What's interesting me now that I'm looking at it is how people I've met on G+ have influenced my desk.  Next to the Godzilla ornament (a gift from friends in Canada, also met online) is the new Godzilla brought from Japan by +Rick Wayne.  Behind that is my new collection of Moleskines, which are all +R.J. Blain 's fault (my new daily journal is a leather Moleskine journal, and likely will become my default refill because I can still get the damn things -- tl;dr leather cover that holds a pen).  There's a Mood Calendar, which I got because my beloved +Pamela Lynn was given one by her favorite cabana boy and bacon chef, +Jay Jacobs and I was envious.  Also, a Post-It flag dispenser.  I love me some Post-Its.

Yes, that is a Lava Lamp, which is a favorite thing of mine, but is also there to fill space that assorted cats try to use for fish tank investigations.  A Lava Lamp, it seems, is about the same size as a cat ass.

I want more Lava Lamps, by the way.  I want one with the sparkly stuff in it, preferably in purple.  I am plotting to obtain one.

The second picture is the shelf above my laptop which holds my second monitor with my spring wallpaper and more stuff -- I love that monitor.  There's also my Rollins moose with her computer, a kitchen timer, and a wind up dancing robot.  I graduated from Rollins College, which is why I have the moose.  I don't know why it is a moose, as Rollins is in Florida and nary a moose has ever strolled across its Spanish Moss embellished campus, but thus it is.  Life is full of such mysteries.

+Mith Besler It's how my brain works.  The more sterile the environment, the more my mind wanders and the less I get done.

Comes of a youth spent reading/doing homework with the TV on.

Pictures from my everyday, ordinary life.

Number 1

This is a scene typical on my bed, most any day of the week -- some combination of critters taking up at least 1/4 if not 1/2 of the space.  Today it was Zeus (large black blob) and Horry (small black and white blob) snoozing butt-to-butt.  Almost any combination of critters will include one of them. as they are the cuddliest and the most bed-hoggy.

Its such a hard life...I sympathise when my dog sleeps on the bed, I end up with cramp due to being crunched up.
