Silent Sunday -- April 26th And no words are really needed here. This sign is fairly self explanatory!

.
Silent Sunday on April 26th. One photo. No words. No words needed on this one really

I am swearing on the blog today. Sorry. I am cross. Ranty Friday -- Dear Jamelia

. warning this post contains swearing.  Lots of swearing.  All the swears.  If swearing offends then please leave now and Google some kitten pictures which is what I shall now be doing in an effort to calm down.  oh love. I do not think it’s right to…
Dear Jamelia, you feature on Ranty Friday this week as a response to your fatuous comments about plus size clothing being kept off the High Street.

The Gallery -- Colours on the blog today

It was a stunning picture by Annie that prompted Tara to pick colour as the theme for the gallery this week. A field of rapeseed down in Somerset last week, and it really is the most glorious picture:   Wow, field of yellow, no filter either And it…
Colour on The Gallery this week and so it has to be more flowers from Holland. I think I am just a bit obsessed with them.

Chocolate waffle cake oh hello hello hello (@sageappliances)

This morning the ever gorgeous Kelly from DomesticGoddesque tagged me on Facebook to alert me to a chocolate waffle cake that another blogger had made.   This is the video of that creation, it has a stack of Nutella in it and looks heavenly. As you know I…
Is it cake? Or is it waffle? I tell you what it definitely is, delicious. And dead easy. So easy, even I made it. Cake cooked in the waffle machine!

An invite to a Buckingham Palace Garden Party arrived yesterday. Yes really. So I just had to blog about it, right?

. Traditionally of course posh invitations land with a thud on the door mat.   At Barrow Towers though we don’t do things the traditional way. Which is why on Friday morning as I was making doner kebabs (I know, I have no idea why either but it seemed…
An invite to Buckingham Palace has arrived, followed by the postman curtseying. It's such a thrill but now I have to panic about what to wear

Volendam on the blog today. We explored there whilst in Holland with @canvasholidays @visitholland

Volendam is a tiny town on the map and one you might not notice or pay much attention to.  Yes it’s on the coast, but so much of Holland is.  And if you want towns buzzing with life, well there is Amsterdam, Rotterdam, The Hague and smaller towns too.  …
Volendam is a lovely sleepy town in Northern Holland that many will not have hear about. We went to have a look around its beautiful harbour.

Pomora Olive Oil on the blog today. Which is odd as I hate olives. @PomoraGoodFood

. I have been trying to start this blog post in my head for about three weeks. “I don’t like olives” — but that then makes you think I am going to launch into a 10CC lyric and follow it up with “I love it”.   I don’t.  I really don’t like olives. Equally…
It is really hard to review olive oil when you don't like olives. But you do love olive oil. And this one from Pomora is lovely, with a great back story

Monday Morning I had two police officers and social services in my kitchen.

. It’s 7.30pm on Sunday night.  We have had a lazy afternoon watching the Grand Prix and an indoor barbecue with lovely friends and I am just assembling waffles and strawberries when my mobile rings.   Withheld number.  Sod that on a Sunday night.…
It is not good enough to say "I don't understand that internet stuff" because if you want to keep your children safe on line you need to know how.

A day in a spa taught me that normal is the new normal when it comes to size.

.   or I wish it was.   Let me explain On Saturday I spent the whole day in a spa with one of my bestest best friends, Mrs Cooke.  Mrs Cooke is a teacher and we met when post-divorce in 2001 I moved into the bungalow next door to her and her family.   […]
It took a spa day to teach me that normal is the new normal when it comes to a woman's size or what she looks like. Not what the media tell us is normal

Ranty Friday -- The Election I vowed not to do this but I am bored of it already. #RantyFriday on the blog today

I am sick of the Election already.  And that’s why it is Ranty Friday this week.  Actually it isn’t the election I am sick of, it is other people insisting their view on politics is the only acceptable one and ramming it down my throat. The last time I…
Ranty Friday, the election is today's subject. And more to the point people telling me who to vote for. Please stop. We live in a democracy, right?

The Gallery -- #OpTeddyBear This one is for you Fin. (@tara_cain) Showing you my teddy on the blog today. Show Fin yours and join in?

. For The Gallery this week Tara is joining in with #OpTeddyBear which is the brain child of a very poorly little boy called Fin.  In Tara’s own words: Finlay Church was diagnosed with a malignant brain tumour last year. An aggressive tumour that’s rare…
#OpTeddyBear is the brainchild of a very poorly boy who wants to thank the staff at Birmingham Children's hospital by breaking World Records.

Introduction

Mum of three, wife of one.   Blogging since April 2011 and thrilled to have been nominated for various awards and won some too.   Even more thrilled to have been a part of Team Honk that raised awareness of the good work being done in Africa by Comic Relief, and of helping to raise over £40,000 in two years for them.

Ever so slightly bonkers and most likely to be heard saying "oh yeah, I have a story about them" over a pint of Martini and lemonade.
Bragging rights
Finalist in the BiBs 2012. Winner of Social Media Category of the BiBs in 2013. And winner in the Commentary category for BiBs 2013 for work with Team Honk. First woman to be invited to a male dominated sheep grab in the desert of Saudi Arabia. And in 2014 chatted about how bloggers may be able to help end world poverty by 2030 with Richard Curtis (yes THE Richard Curtis) and how blogging is a force for good with David Cameron in Downing Street. MADs Award finalist too
