Poor Man's SSL using @Cloudflare service

Maka, saya…

I have posted slides from my talk "Eliminating Code Overhead" which I gave yesterday at Square.

By themselves, these slides are sparse on any explanation or reasoning for what's on them. The event was recorded and a video of me blabbering over them will be made available later.

The CPU, RAM, and disk are finite resources that are often taken for granted as unbounded. Not only is this obviously untrue, but the use of these resources directly affects the most important resource on a mobile device: the battery. This talk will focus on techniques that both libraries and applications can implement to ensure their effect is in general without overhead.

We just updated the EspressoBasicBundled sample to Runner/Rules 0.2 and Espresso 2.1

We this push, we also publish all unbundled Android Testing Support Library JARs into the libs/ folder of the sample. So if you haven't had a chance to migrate to Gradle yet you can now update your project with the latest static JARs.

Collapsing Toolbar Title

I finally got around to tidying up my collapsing Toolbar title code today. It's pretty simple to use.

Just wrap your Toolbar in a CollapsingTitleLayout. From then on, you should update the title via setTitle(), and change the scroll position as needed via setScrollOffset().

There are improvements to be made in the API and text layout, but it's pretty usable now.

One thing to note, the sample image has the background collapsing with the title. This is not provided by this layout, you'll need to do it yourself. It does clip the background though.

Salah satu semangat yang sangat menggeliat pada bulan Ramadhan ialah semangat meng-khatam-kan al-Quran. Dan tidak jarang, bahkan hampir semua umat Islam mengusung target khatam qur'an pada bulan suci ini. Bukan hanya sekali, tapi berkali-kali. Bahkan ada sekolompok pemuda atau remaja yang ...

Fixing the 'Blank Text' problem: http://bit.ly/1af95ho - 29% of pages show blank text. The median blank text time: ~350 ms - ouch. The good news is, CSS font-rendering can fix that.

A fellow Android UI Toolkit team member, +yiğit boyar, just posted two great articles about RecyclerView. In particular, he discusses how animations work, and what you need to understand about RecyclerView and LayoutManager in order to get great animations with your own custom LayoutManager.

RecyclerView was one of my favorite features in the Lollipop release. For one thing, it took another run at the recycling-container problem with a more flexible architecture than ListView. But also, it offers default animations for basic add/remove operations in the container. No longer will you need to watch 10 different DevBytes on how to animate views in ListView! In fact, you should just get everything for free if you use the default LayoutManagers that the support library provides. But if you want to do your own custom layout, check out Yigit's articles to understand how it all works.

ListView is one of the most popular widgets of the Android Framework. It has many features, yet it is fairly complex and hard to modify. As the UX paradigms evolved and phones got faster, its limitations started to overshadow its feature set. With Lollipop, the Android team decided to release a ...
