Apple pay is now available in the UK.

Here are three simple steps to add your bank card to Apple Pay

1. Open Passbook
2. Press on the add sign ➕ (top
3. Use the iSight camera to add card

For some cards you will be sent a verification code by text.

If you have a bank account or card registered on iTunes all you need to do is add the security code.

Researchers have found a vulnerability in Android devices that allows hackers to access a device remotely without the owner ever knowing it was compromised. The flaw affects roughly 95 percent of Android devices running operating system version 2.2 to 5.1, according to cybersecurity firm Zimperium.

Some thoughts on that pretty horrible Android MMS vulnerability
Finally an article on that pretty serious Android vulnerability making its rounds through the press that actually delivers some details.
Seems like this is actually only loosely  related to MMS (or Hangouts for that matter) at all - in so far as it is the easiest way of entry. Also it seems to be fixed in Android 5.1.1. Still that bug looks really bad - one that underlines how important timely updates are. Which makes me wonder why Google is only assigning this is a "high" vulnerability ranking and not "critical". Their statement is pretty generic but hints a that in reality this might not be exploitable on lots of devices. Maybe that's the reason for the lower ranking. Would also be great to know how that vulnerability gets to all the data and device features the article is mentioning - getting in is one thing, getting to the data of other processes is another. (though this depends on the permissions the Stagefright process is running with - which I simply don't know)

Edit Forbes has some more details: Seems I was right about that permission thing - but the problem is that some friggin third party manufacturers have messed up again. On devices like the Samsung Galaxy S4 and the LG Optimus Elite Stagefright is running - yes you guessed it - with system level privileges.

Edit2 The Forbes article has another interesting quote which makes me wonder even more about exploitability, quoting Joshua Drake who found this vulnerability:
He said devices running Android versions prior to Jelly Bean, version 4.1, representing roughly 100 million devices, have “inadequate exploit mitigations” that wouldn’t prevent Stagefright attacks over MMS.
So the others have???
Update: This article has been updated with a comment from Google.

Report Names WhatsApp As Worst Tech Company For Data Privacy

A report created by the Electronic Frontier Foundation named ‘Who Has Your Back?’, aims to rank large technology companies on how well they protect the data of their users as well as how transparent they are.

WhatsApp was criticised heavily by the report, and received bad marks for almost every measure. It came joint with AT&T to receive the worst ranking. WhatsApp is owned by Facebook but both were analysed separately
