Dear Mr. Dad: My family loves to swim, and every year my wife and I have the same argument. I say that swimming pools are filthy and I tell our kids to keep their mouth closed while they’re in the water. My wife says that chlorine kills any dangerous germs and that it’s perfectly fine …

Did you know that every 33 seconds a child under 13 is involved in a car crash in the United States? That probably isn’t the first thing you think about when you are hauling your kids to school, the grocery store, or anywhere else around town. And really, you shouldn’t have to worry about whether …

We all know fathers are important. Yet we as a society are bombarded with negative images of neglectful, uninterested, abusive, deadbeat, and lazy dads. The book "Throwaway Dads" is an invitation to explore these issues and to join in the process of getting men more involved.

New Podcast! We interview Alfie Kohn, author of "The Myth of the Spoiled Child." Parents are accused of being permissive and overprotective, unwilling to set limits and afraid to let their kids fail. At the same time, young people are described as entitled and narcissistic. But there is no scientific evidence at all to support these claims. Click the link below to listen in!

Nobody knows dads like Mr. Dad
Introduction
Being a dad comes first. Always. But for the last 15 years or so, I've devoted my career to giving men (and those who love them) the tools, support, resources, and knowledge they need to be the dads they want to be--and their family needs them to be.

I'm the author of eight bestselling books on fatherhood, covering everything from pregnancy and infancy to toddlers, school-age kids, and even teens. Titles include The Expectant Father, The New Father: A Dad's Guide to the First Year, and The Military Father: A Hands-on Guide for Deployed Dads. I write two nationally syndicated newspaper columns, "Ask Mr. Dad" and "Parents@Play," and host two parenting radio shows. "Positive Parenting" airs on a dozen stations in the US, and "Positive Parenting for Military Families" airs on the American Forces Network where it reaches more than 2 million American servicemembers and their families on 500+ stations in 177 countries. Oh, and I guess I shouldn't forget about my blog and website, mrdad.com

Whew. Besides all that, I do a lot of work on men's health issues and edit a popular blog, Talking About Men's Health.
