What can be done when a woman gets pregnant purposefully despite the couple agreeing on not having children? It's a tough situation considering the man never wanted to be a father. But one possible solution that could leave all parties happy comes from Sweden.

Dear Mr. Dad: My girlfriend and I talked many times about children and mutually decided not to have any. However, without telling me, she changed her mind and got pregnant. I have absolutely no interest in being a father or raising children, but she’s threatening to come after me for child support. Is there anything …

Whether you’re a Democrat, Republican, Independent, Libertarian, or anything else, visiting Washington DC should definitely be on your bucket list. My daughter and I were in DC a few years ago and we did a lot of traditional touristy activities: toured the White House and the Library of Congress, saw the House of Representatives in …

We are often presented with the image of a neglectful, lazy dad, or the idea that fathers have less importance that mothers. Studies prove that children with active fathers are far happier and better adjusted than those without. And most fathers are eager to be better parents. This book is an invitation to explore these issues and to join in the process of getting men more involved.

The first thing to know about this robotic arm from Hexbug (makers of those adorable, frenetic mechanical insects) is that it’s not a true robot in the “it-moves-all-by-itself” sense (but that’s easily remedied: if you want to automate your arm, you just need to buy a motor kit). Second, with more than 350 pieces, building …

In my first DC adventure post, I focused on physically challenging adventures. In this post, we relax a little and focus on somewhat-less-physically challenging activities. We arrived at Homewood Suites at 11a.m., several hours before check-in time. I was expecting to drop off our bags and head out to start exploring the city. But the …

Nobody knows dads like Mr. Dad
Introduction
Being a dad comes first. Always. But for the last 15 years or so, I've devoted my career to giving men (and those who love them) the tools, support, resources, and knowledge they need to be the dads they want to be--and their family needs them to be.

I'm the author of eight bestselling books on fatherhood, covering everything from pregnancy and infancy to toddlers, school-age kids, and even teens. Titles include The Expectant Father, The New Father: A Dad's Guide to the First Year, and The Military Father: A Hands-on Guide for Deployed Dads. I write two nationally syndicated newspaper columns, "Ask Mr. Dad" and "Parents@Play," and host two parenting radio shows. "Positive Parenting" airs on a dozen stations in the US, and "Positive Parenting for Military Families" airs on the American Forces Network where it reaches more than 2 million American servicemembers and their families on 500+ stations in 177 countries. Oh, and I guess I shouldn't forget about my blog and website, mrdad.com

Whew. Besides all that, I do a lot of work on men's health issues and edit a popular blog, Talking About Men's Health.
