Agree with COTA being a better track. The problem is it's the Daytona 200. If you take it away from there, it's not the Daytona 200 any more! In my mind the only way to do that is to completely re-invent the race in order to bring it to another venue, perhaps in alignment with the TT series being talked about. But then you would be scuttling all of that history. Would anyone go if the race were not at Daytona? Hard to say. If aligned with the TT series and the TT field were going to ride in it, I would say yes, absolutely! But on it's own I am not so optimistic. It's a difficult thing to navigate through.
Frankly I find the 2.9 mile Motorcycle racing layout at Daytona to be pretty good. It just needs a little enhancement and some safety additions. I love watching them haul ass down the NASCAR sections and watching all of the drafting and dicing that happens. For me that is part of the appeal. The other thing is the pit stops. I think this is a huge part of the proceedings! It's part of what makes this race unique and why it needs to continue, be it in its current form, the Daytona 200, or as a refreshed and re-created race somewhere else.
