Looking Back, Was 2013 Really a Successful Year?

We like to think optimistically, to envision ourselves as successful people, businesses, and organizations.  But at the end of the day (or year, in this case), looking back over a larger body of work, can you truly call it a success?

Why do good resolutions so often fail?  What prevents great intentions from culminating into awesome reality?  Did we need more pep talks?  More knowledge?  More efficient methods?

Progress in almost any area requires consistency.  And while that might sound boring, it actually isn't.  Why?  Because real progress- a product of long term consistency- makes for extremely exciting results!

Consistency is only boring if you feel like you don't have something to show for it.  When you feel this way, there's no gratification, no satisfaction, and no motivation to keep it up.  So you become less consistent.  Soon there is no productivity, no results, and another great intention, plan, or dream is marked off as a failed resolution.  Even more common- and often more damaging- we deceive ourselves into thinking that we haven't abandoned it, only put it on the back burner temporarily.

Do you want to have a truly great 2014?  Real success (and the accompanying satisfaction!) when you look back at the end of another year?  Then clear your back burners.  Empty them!  If there's something crucial enough to warrant it, write it down and file it away, but by all means- get it off the back burner.

Then take the single most important thing on your list, and make it a consistent, predictable, non-optional part of your workflow (preferably first on your list or schedule- and don't even look at the next item until this one is done).  Don't let it become something that you decide whether to do or not.  Make it a given.

Where do you want your site to be a year from now?  Don't sit around and wait for it to happen- make it happen!  Clear those debilitating back burners, then consistently target the things most critical to making your site truly successful in 2014.

We're so thankful for your part in the MotionMods community throughout 2013, and we'd love the opportunity to be a part of your success in 2014!  We have a number of major releases on the horizon that will enable PHPmotion site owners to tackle some of the most common (and most crucial) elements of success at the click of a button- no coding or complex modifications involved.

With this in mind, what are your most pressing needs?  Blocking spam?  SEO improvements and control?  Social network integrations?  More modern look/feel?  Better admin functionality?  Faster page loads?  Leave a quick comment and let us know!
