"It's in the discussion of Mr. Williams' illness that his story merges with my own... after a recent, massive depressive episode that caused me to have to leave Seattle and move back home to California, I've begun treatment for bipolar disorder."
This is a deeply personal, weird, awkward, unfamiliar bit of information, and sharing it in public like this in many ways feels absolutely fucking terrifying.

the mind is such a thing when you think about it. I don't suffer from imbalances (...that I know of, everyone I know thinks am a bit krazy) , but I have many friends and siblings that are fighting with the constant daily confusions, and I believe it gets better with time, that, it's important to keep socializing and keep active. Some of the medications can have the opposite effects, hence making depression worse. But you can talk to your Dr. about lowering doses and alternatives, about joining Bipolar programs or social activities, trainings, workouts, etc.. Breathing deeply, looking at sunsets, having good thoughts and good friends, all those things produces serotonin. I am not saying they are all you need to be stable, but the more you have the more it helps. I know some hot springs in the rocky mtns have a lot of lithium and I used to bathe there for days, and felt a more stable mind afterwards. being absorbed by the skin. Anywho I hope you get good comments and keep "coming out!"

What may well have been America’s first ever-web surfing competition to be held at an actual surf club took place this weekend.
I went to the most wonderfully insane internet scavenger hunt. At the beach.

In defense of Wikipedia.
People trust Wikipedia authors more than trained journalists—and perhaps they're right to.

I use Wikipedia to confirm questions that develop when reading main stream news. This in turn always leads to better questions to place on the subject any news source is reporting. I trust it enough to believe that this tool can be manipulated and content filtered. Thus hiding the truth, if not, eliminating whole chucks of history as it happened.

If they're Canadian, why does it say "U.S. Coast Guard" on the side of the ships, eh?

Your guide to making the perfect Facebook newsfeed.
If two days can change your newsfeed, what does three years of incessant "liking" do? It depends on your strategy.

Ecuador was tasked with finding a use for its old airport—the result is one of the world's best parks.
When a city suddenly closes an airport, the best choice is to turn it into a massive park, as Quito did with the Parque Bicentenario.

A human never touches the damn thing.
It's the first machine that can both form and function without a human ever touching it.
