Since all the U.S. is doing is replacing imports with domestic production, the move doesn't mean the U.S. is consuming more energy than it would have if it were still importing the stuff. It is simply changing the source, not reducing the use, which is THE problem. We're so focused on the source that we forget the real story here, which is the urgency to reduce consumption of fossil-fuel energy, including gas.
