With scientists chasing after cure-all anti-virus treatments and a universal flu vaccine, the eradication of infectious diseases appears to be medical research's ultimate goal. But what if we actually got there?

Really dumb premise - does not indicate any understanding of what the role of infectious diseases are... most life threatening infectious diseases are nature's means to rebalance an ecology unbalanced. Too often, we are the ones who create the imbalance - the conditions for rapid growth of an infectious disease. Factory farm poultry and pigs then house them by the thousands and thousands in live markets - and a new influenza is born!
