The sound of life

Trongsa, Bhutan

Our bodies are more than 50% water and we cannot live for many days without drinking water. Perhaps not so strange that most of us love the sound of water, be it a waterfall or the ocean.

Wherever there is water there is an abundance of life. Some places the water flows seasonally and others year round like this waterfall. Here the water is flowing steadily in a way that is not abrasive to the vegetation which makes this such a beautiful locale. I believe that when the waterfall does overflow in the rainy season, it gushes down mostly freefalling, with not much more force on the rocks underneath the strongest forces that what we see here.

In rivers flowing in valleys it is a different matter as there gravity rules supreme and the sediments and rocks sandblast everything smooth and thus no moss or vegetation can grow there as seen here.

Also, when there is more downforce it creates turbulence in the air which adds to the outflow of the water rather than inward and onto the rock surface. In fact I really enjoyed the undulating sound of the water as it was swaying to and fro, landing in various places and thus making unique sounds as a result.
