Playa Ocotal San Juan del Sur 505, Nicaragua
Surrounded by the majestic dry tropical forest of Nicaragua Morgan’s Rock Hacienda & Ecolodge opened its doors in 2004, and today still truly engaged and connected to its surrounding nature, offering a wide variety of activities for travelers who are interested in the outdoors, from hiking and treks to nearby volcanoes, to fishing trips, farming and kayaking on the resort’s private river estuary. More than 23 kilometers of hiking trails wind through the resort, meeting at the spectacular 400-meter-high Palo de Pluma lookout point, which commands stunning views of the spectacular Maderas and Concepcion volcanoes on Ometepe Island in Lake Nicaragua, and even the mountains of Guanacaste in Costa Rica. Now for travelers who enjoy unprecedented experiences Morgan’s Rock offers the opportunity to observe the spawning, hatching and then the scurrying back to sea of baby sea turtles all year around. As part of our giving back to nature here at Morgan’s Rock we have staff members trained for label nests and provide 24 hour protection against the turtle’s greater predator: human beings is the least that we can do here at Morgan’s since we have the privilege to be a prime nesting ground where at night turtles returning to where they were born lay up to 120 eggs that hatch 50 or so days later.
Morgan’s Rock Hacienda & Ecolodge in addition to consistently receiving high praise for its gracious hospitality, creature comforts, excellent cuisine, and complete menu of activities, is also an award winning Ecolodge noted for its ecological design and sensitivity, and for its abundance of wildlife and rich biodiversity. Morgan’s Rock provides guests a range and depth of cultural experiences unmatched by any other tropical forest lodges. Everlasting and heartening Morgan’s Rock will make your senses come alive.
