When we take mass public transport, we would want to be sure that our driver, or captain, or pilot to be in good shape, both body and mind. That way they could see our bus, train, ship or aircraft through on long trips from our origin to the destination, and in the hopefully unlikely event that an emergency pops up, that these men (and women) could take on an authoritative role to keep the passengers controlled, and to evacuate them to safety if absolutely necessary. We want to be able to entrust ourselves to a genuinely dependable pilot, nothing at all like the one featured here.-http://www.supermorgy.com/2017/01/police-arrest-drunk-pilot-from-cockpit.html

What if I told you that in this store, shoppers can just walk in, grab an item or two from the shelves, then walk straight out and have their purchases paid for the moment they exit the door? A decade or so ago, that story would have been greeted with skepticism and consigned into the world of fantastical science fiction. But now is now.-http://www.supermorgy.com/2016/12/real-world-amazon-store-has-no-checkout.html

When the first “Star Wars” film came out in 1977, it fascinated the world with how it transferred conventions of a medieval fantasy adventure story into a science fiction setting to create a sprawling space opera saga that has continued drawing in audiences and fans for decades and multiple films. Another wow element that the moviegoers took a shine to is the character of Leia Organa, the space princess in the story. Although she’s put in distress right off the bat, she never loses her nerve, her indignation at evil people and their evil deeds, as well as her spunk shown when she practically aids in her own escape. Her portrayer, Carrie Fisher, really sold the character’s independent and authoritative nature across the original “Star Wars” trilogy and in “Episode VII: The Force Awakens” back in 2015.-http://www.supermorgy.com/2017/01/carrie-princess-leia-fisher-one-with.html

In December of 1984 a British pop duo called Wham! released a poignant Christmas-themed pop song entitled “Last Christmas”, which eventually became one of the most popular contemporary Christmas standard music to be played during the Holiday season. This success could be laid at the feet of one of the duo, singer-songwriter Georgios Kyriacos Panayiotou of mixed Greek Cypriot and British stock, although he was better known to the world by the stage name George Michael. After Wham! went their separate ways in 1986 he would make it huge as an international music icon and a heavyweight celebrity advocate for LGBT rights.-http://www.supermorgy.com/2017/01/2016-is-last-christmas-for-george.html

All around the world there are understandably different ways of anticipating and finally celebrating the Yuletide or Christmas season. Some countries light fireworks just as many would on the coming of the New Year. Some light a symbolic Yule log on their fireplaces, or hang up piñatas for the children to take turns trying to smash while blindfolded. Perhaps the greatest variation could be found in the food that’s eaten in the special meal of the day. It can range from Christmas ham in general, to American turkey, to English goose, or Danish duck, so on and so forth. Mind you, these are expected in countries that have been predominantly Christian for centuries, but what of a nation that isn’t?-http://www.supermorgy.com/2017/01/kfc-japanese-christmas-tradition.html

Hey, I’m sure you remember my having written about Hawaii not so long ago, but now here’s a little news story happening there that’s quite interesting. Everybody knows that Hawaii is a tropical paradise out in the middle of the Pacific, where it’s ideally warm and sunny to enjoy the surf and sea, or the natural sights further inland. But did you know that even here snow also falls? Indeed, in certain highly elevated locations of the state such as its highest peaks Mauna Kea and Mauna Loa, one can expect the heaviest concentration of snowfall anywhere in Hawaii, giving the two their white peaks.-http://www.supermorgy.com/2016/12/snow-in-tropical-hawaii-no-kidding.html

Way back in 1994, game developer Capcom created a fighting game using licensed characters from Marvel Comics. “X-Men: Children of the Atom” it was called, and it became the foundation for more fighting game entries featuring Marvel. Eventually Capcom got the bright idea to have the Marvel characters cross over with their own stable of videogame characters, from the venerable “Street Fighter” series and more. It started with “X-Men vs. Street Fighter” in 1996 and ultimately with the massive crossover title “Marvel vs. Capcom” in 1998. This game solidified a partnership between Marvel and Capcom in developing videogames that were a hit for dedicated gamers.-http://www.supermorgy.com/2016/12/mahvel-is-back-marvel-vs-capcom.html

First off, the lead female character doesn’t see herself as a princess. She’s Moana, daughter of an island chief. Enter the male lead, the savvy Polynesian demigod Maui who tells her, “If you’re wearing a dress and have an animal sidekick, you’re a princess”. That statement pretty much indicates what manner of story you’ll get from this film. It’s very immersive and self-aware in equal measure, delivering a tale of exciting adventure even as it lampshades the many elements that make a Disney animated film what it is. The number of contemporary shout-outs to be found is a hoot too.-http://www.supermorgy.com/2016/12/disneys-moana-adventurous-princess-tale.html

The International Space Station (ISS) is at present the primary active habitable artificial satellite currently in orbit around our planet Earth today. Composed of individual space modules produced by various national (and international) space agencies put together, and manned by astronaut crews coming from these same, the ISS serves as a research lab specializing micro gravity and space environments, as well as observatory of both earth and space. With its initial components launched in 1998 and expected to remain in service and orbit until anywhere from 2020 to 2028, the station has logged in some impressive earth orbit mission records for astronauts, who require a regular resupply of foodstuffs, personal care items, and a wide variety of necessary equipment all launched to them by unmanned rocket. These missions are routine in procedure, although every now and then something unexpected happens.- http://www.supermorgy.com/2016/12/russian-supply-rocket-flight-for-iss.html

I’ve already written about Delhi in a previous article, about how it’s really the smoggiest and dirtiest city in the world, and how this polluted atmosphere has turned the innocuous facemask into a basic commodity that’s also in woefully short supply. The example of Delhi ought to be enough to hammer the lesson into everybody’s heads about the devastating effects of air pollution caused by fossil fuel engine exhaust. I probably won’t have to rehash the numerous other things said about this topic, other than a piece of news that shows that some communities are taking steps to address it.-http://www.supermorgy.com/2016/12/total-diesel-vehicle-ban-in-four-major.html
