Service from the time we booked in till we checked out was not friendly. Food on site was terrible and everything we did was very expensive with no real value. The rooms were okay but way over priced. Would not recommend.

Make no mistake, Moody Gardens is not an amusement park. ( If u want that go waste ur money at the Pleasure pier ) . It's so so much more. All the pyramids are beautiful or interesting. It's a fun way to learn. Read all the info stuff posted!! The atmosphere is serene, But kids love it too. Shearns Restaurant is the best dining experience I've ever had. pricey but beyond worth it. Buy the passes!!

Greedy, greedy, greedy... I can't understand how they can possibly call themselves a non-profit organization. We drove into Galveston to see their IMAX today. We've been studying the ocean with our family and thought it would be wonderful for the children to experience a 3-D movie of it. Although it was a far drive from where we live, and quite expensive for a family of four, we thought it might be worth it. We sat down in the the theater with our little 3-D glasses on and really enjoyed seeing the underwater ocean come to life. Suddenly, the narrator began to sound like he was giving a summary. We thought to ourselves, "But we just sat down... This can't be?" Sure enough, the credits came up. . . only 20 minutes after we had sat down. There isn't any information on the length of the movies that they will be showing that day. I can't imagine any newcomer would be able to guess they would be ripped off so hard. Just a big shame, and from what it looks like, this is one of the many ways Moody Gardens misleads their customers.

I visited Moody Gardens 9/20/2014. I live in the DFW area and decided to buy my tickets online for all day pass and penguin encounter online for my daughter and I as a surprise for her. I got two online confirmation codes/ recites which i printed out. The Saturday I arrived to Moody Gardens their were long lines and staff is not equip to handle high volume of customers in a timely manner. The process to buy or pick up tickets is a lengthy one. The gentleman at the front counter claimed only one of my confirmation codes was valid that the other one wasn't showing in their system. I received my all day pass however the 100 I spent on the personal penguin encounter was told they didn't receive that it was a glitch in the system when my credit card payment went through. The nice gentleman at front was working over the phone with the moody garden account lady Tabitha. Tabitha stated if I could show proof that Moody Gardens deducted my money for the event from my bank account they would honor the transaction. However when I showed on my Chase mobile app that the money was indeed deducted from my account Tabitha stated because she doesn't see in on her end she still wouldn't honor it. I called Chase bank asking if the payment had not gone through or was pending and my Chase rep stated they received the money the day before 9/19/2014. Tabitha asked me to pay again for the event that was starting in 30 mins after i been working with them for hour and half to resolve the issue. I told Tabitha I wanted a document stating Moody Gardens refuses to honor a online recite given from their company after showing proof and that if I'm charged twice they wouldn't reimburse me. Tabitha stated she wouldn't be able to provide me that document in time for the penguin encounter event but that I should receive it after the event. I explained that paying twice for something wasn't good customer service and that I wouldn't pay again with out some proof of accountability and acknowledgment. Tabitha refused to meet with me and dealt with me or the staff solely over the phone. My daughter was crushed that she couldn't see her surprise and the fact we wasted 2 hours of our day pass fussing with litigation. I filed a claim through Chase bank to retrieved my money back from Moody Gardens and did get a full refund. The biggest disappointment was the fact even with proof no manager was available to talk to and customer service was awful, other than the front counter man who was just caught in the middle. Moody Gardens wasn't missing out on merchandise, it was experience that was purchased and had no qualms about wasting our time or righting a wrong on their part. The place was nice to see but the high stress event really ruined the day for my daughter and I. I wouldn't recommend purchasing tickets online only way you know you'll truly get what you pay for.

Moody Gardens... What a huge disappointment. We drove down from Austin with out of state guests to visit Galveston and see the sights. Hoping the gardens would be one of the highlights of the trip, we were very disappointed and embarrassed to say the least. Way overpriced, dirty and a staff of incompetent unfriendly high school/college kids. Did I mention way overpriced? I hope visitors planning a trip to Galveston heed this review. I am not one to take the time and write reviews - but the experience compelled me to let others know what may be in store if they decide to visit Moody Gardens. My advice would be to skip Moody and go to the Strand, Pier 21, Pleasure Pier or any number of the tourist traps in Galveston - you'll have a better time.

We spent Christmas at Moody Gardens and had a great time! We stayed at the Moody Gardens Hotel and we each got a 2 day pass for Moody Gardens which included the Festival of Lights and the Iceland. My favorite was the Rainforest pyramid I loved it! The Aquarium is not really worth the money they don't have much and it was really boring. I was really impressed with the spongebob themed Iceland but we didn't stay long because it was 9 degrees and freezing cold in there. We never made it to the festival of lights we were too tired. I would suggest getting an all day pass it will save you money. Oh and make sure you see the 4d and 3d movies they were really good!

Hi Kristin! Thank you so much for taking the time to leave your feedback. Sounds like you had a great time overall! We agree with you that the Day Passes are the best way to go since you get to see more attractions at a discounted price. Thanks again and Happy New Year!

Moody Gardens is a destination that is great whether you are celebrating a family reunion, a kid's birthday party, or just getting away for the weekend. Over the past few years, there have been several major upgrades and makes this place worth all of the money you will spend during your visit. Recently, a friend and I went for the first time and we bought a day-pass and took in every experience -- the boat ride, the IMAX movie, the Aquarium -- everything. Not sure what took me so long to visit, but I had a blast and plan to go back during the winter holiday celebrations.

This is a horrible hotel. Not only did we find several bugs in our food, but the meats were dry and filled my family and I with disgust. On top of that, my daughters $2000 laptop was stolen by one of the cleaners. We know this because they were the only ones able to enter the room once the door to the hotel room was closed. The management to this situation was horrible and we were kicked out of the hotel once we called the police. Over all this is a rude, no good, 0 star hotel.
