Last year a provision was added to the House version of the annual defense authorization bill (NDAA) that would have amended the National Historic Preservation Act to allow any federal land-managing agency to remove National Register-listed properties under its control from the Register, for reasons of national security. It would also have given agencies the ability to effectively veto the future listing of any other property located on federal land that was proposed for the Register. - See more at: http://www.shovelbums.org/index.php/r-joe-s-blog/archaeology-anthropology-and-crm-news/entry/archaeologists-assemble-immediate-support-needed-to-stop-dismantling-of-nhpa#sthash.rpvCUpSa.2dFfndTy.dpuf

Help me make a 30 minute documentary about the American Civil War in the Ozarks. Up From the Fields: The Civil War in the Ozarks focuses on the archaeological history of this border region between Confederate and Union states of Arkansas and Missouri. The project is being filmed for Public Television so it will be available to everyone.
Indiegogo is a great democratic funding platform and archaeology is the ultimate democratic source. Because archaeology records everyday lives of people who are only a footnote to history, we can use it to understand the impact of the lives of the soldiers and people whose farms, homes, and lives were destroyed by the war.
I am trying to raise $4000 to pay for some travel expenses and a camera crew for the filming. Please share this, and if you can donate and help us honor their sacrifices and tell this important Ozarks Story.
