Executive recruitment company Monroe Consulting Group has continued its winning tradition at the Global Recruiter Asia-Pacific Awards, this time claiming the award for Best In-House Training 2017.

“The training, mentorship and development, both on the professional and personal levels, of our recruitment consultants have been critical to the success of Monroe,” Monroe Group Managing Director Andrew Hairs said. “We have invested significant time and resources into our programme and it is a great honour to be recognised for our efforts, particularly against some of the largest recruitment companies in the world.”

The Best In-House Training award recognises “unparalleled training and development for recruitment consultants.” The criteria included proof that training increased the effectiveness of recruitment consultants and advanced their respective careers.

Monroe Consulting Group, which has flourishing recruitment operations in China, Vietnam, Thailand, Malaysia, Philippines, Indonesia, Chile and Mexico, has previously won Global Recruiter Magazines Best Small Recruitment Business three times and Best Overseas Operations twice. It was nominated for Best In-House Training in 2016.

Monroe Consulting Group has announced that Ross McKenzie has been appointed managing director of the international award-winning executive recruitment company’s operations in the Philippines. Monroe, a specialist in executive-level recruitment in emerging economies in the Asia-Pacific, launched in the Philippines in 2007.

McKenzie has worked in recruitment in Southeast Asia for almost 20 years. Prior to joining Monroe Philippines, he held four country manager positions, one of which was in Singapore and three of which were in Malaysia.

“I’ve worked throughout Southeast Asia and working in the Philippines has always been a strong desire, even more so now given the strength of the economy and the demand for mid- to senior level executive professionals,” Mr McKenzie said.

He said he had long admired Monroe Consulting Group, which had won multiple international accolades and excelled in executive recruitment in the Technology, Industrial, Consumer Goods, Health and Professional Services industries.

“The growth of the Philippines’ economy and the recruitment of hard-to-source professionals matches Monroe’s strengths, particularly in the areas of technology, construction, infrastructure, retail, consumer goods and health,” he said. “I’m really looking forward to helping Monroe become even more successful in these key areas.”

He said one of the things that set Monroe apart from its competitors in executive recruitment was the company’s dedication to the training and development of its individual consultants, who were each specialists in their respective industries.

“The in-house training and development is second-to-none with an emphasis on ensuring that consultants are experts in their fields and abreast of the latest developments in their respective industries and the wider economy,” Mr McKenzie said. “This means that we are able to place the best candidates in the best jobs with leading companies.”

He said Monroe’s superior understanding of the recruitment marketplace meant the company could best manage a candidate’s sometimes unreasonable salary expectations or provide pertinent advice to client companies about the true cost of hiring.

“This extends to the wider salary package, which job title they should use, peak times to hire and peak times for doing business,” he said. “We concentrate on working as a strategic human resources partner with our client companies and recruiting the high value, mid- to senior-level employees that are needed to establish or grow their businesses.”

Monroe, which has flourishing recruitment operations in China, Vietnam, Thailand, Malaysia, Philippines, Indonesia, Chile and Mexico, won Global Recruiter Magazines Best Small Recruitment Business in 2013, 2014 and 2015, and Best Overseas Operation in 2013 and 2015. It was named a finalist in the Best Small Recruitment Business, Best Overseas Operation, Best In-House Training and Best Client Service categories in 2016. It has again been nominated in the Best In-House Training and Best Small Recruitment Business in 2017.

Executive recruitment company Monroe Consulting Group has been named a finalist in the Global Recruiter Asia-Pacific Best Small Recruitment Business for 2017.

Monroe, which operates in the emerging markets of China, Vietnam, Thailand, Malaysia, Philippines, Indonesia, Chile and Mexico, won Global Recruiter Magazines Best Small Recruitment Business in 2013, 2014 and 2015, and Best Overseas Operation in 2013 and 2015. It was named a finalist in the Best Small Recruitment Business, Best Overseas Operation, Best In-House Training and Best Client Service categories in 2016.

Andrew Hairs, managing director of Monroe Consulting Group, said it was an honour to again be nominated in the Best Small Recruitment Business for the Asia-Pacific region in 2017.

“In 2016, Monroe achieved a 45 percent increase in profit, which was driven by strong performances from our established offices and the turnaround of an unprofitable business that we acquired in Shanghai in 2015,” Hairs said. “The immediate success of our new business in Vietnam and the reversal of fortunes for the China business is further confirmation that Monroe has a winning formula of business process methodologies and recruitment training.”

Hairs said the nomination was also a reflection of the Company’s strong commitment to investing in its recruitment consultants.

He said the company was also excelled in the areas of workplace diversity, social media and corporate social responsibility.

“As Monroe Consulting Group focuses on recruitment in emerging economies, we take our CSR commitments very seriously, supporting a number of carefully selected charities that we believe are 100 percent accountable, transparent and have the biggest impact,” he said. “Two prominent examples include a charity to support sick or terminally children from poor backgrounds, as well as the Gift of Happiness Foundation, which provides entertainment and vital supplies to children in impoverished communities in Thailand.”

A respected charity for poverty-stricken children and their families in Thailand, The Gift of Happiness Foundation, has been able to expand and extend its reach after receiving a significant increase in sponsorship from executive recruitment company Monroe Consulting Group Thailand.

“The Gift of Happiness Foundation would not have been able to have such a positive impact on so many young lives without the support of Monroe Thailand,” said Foundation founder Eddie Haworth, a former circus entertainer who delivers interactive, slap-stick comedy shows to vulnerable children, along with essential relief supplies for poor, often desperate, families. “Monroe have been our biggest corporate supporter and we are delighted the recruitment company is increasing its sponsorship.”

Eddie said Monroe Thailand first gifted the Bangkok-based Foundation a US$15,000 box truck to transport aid supplies to at-risk children around Thailand as well as monthly funding of US$580.

“In January 2016, Monroe tripled the funding and then in April and June of this year, the Company started paying the salaries to two of our key employees, reducing our overheads and allowing even more money to be directed to those who need it most – poor children and communities throughout Thailand, from the slums of Bangkok to refugee camps in border areas.”

Eddie reiterated that the total sponsorship package of about $2,000 per month had allowed Gift of Happiness to extend its aid programme to many hundreds of children.

Executive recruitment consultants from Monroe Consulting Group’s six Asian country offices gathered at the Four Seasons Resort Chiang Mai in northern Thailand for the company’s annual rewards retreat over the weekend.

“Monroe is an international award-winning executive recruitment company that values its high-performing consultants and we look after them accordingly,” says Andrew Hairs, Monroe Group Managing Director. “The weekend is the least we can do after what has been another record year packed full of firsts for Monroe.”

Country managing directors and recruitment consultants flew into Chiang Mai from China, Vietnam, Malaysia, the Philippines, Indonesia as well as Bangkok for the annual retreat, which is aimed primarily as a celebration of the company’s achievements with a special emphasis on fun and relaxation. Monroe also operates in Chile and Mexico.

Andrew says Monroe had a record year in terms of revenue generation in the majority of Asian countries in which it operated, and had recently celebrated the opening of a new operation in Vietnam, which was already performing well above expectation.

“Monroe has a successful strategic vision for emerging markets in the Asia-Pacific, unrivalled country managing directors who can successfully adapt and implement this business model and recruitment consultants who are trained and mentored on an ongoing basis to be the best at what they do, which is sourcing the best talent for the best companies in their respective countries.”
