If you've had a family member or friend with dementia, It's likely that you've experienced times when that person didn't recognize you or was confused about the people and events in their lives. If you are human, you probably found this frustrating and it probably made it hard to communicate with this person. While the world has a way to go before we fully understand dementia, there are a few things that seem to be frequent, if not consistent, through most cases. As a family caregiver (or professional caregiver), it's important to try to keep these things in mind.

Lately, there has been a significant amount of interest in dementia, both from personal friends and by way of requests from those I have come in contact with. Given that, I thought I would spend the next few blog posts discussion ways you might be able to prevent or mitigate the effects. Many of these approaches can be used NOW, before we suffer from brain disease to help keep our brains as healthy as possible as we try to age gracefully
