Greetings to all MoKee OpenSource users!

Good news! The long awaited RELEASE version for MK60.1 supported devices is on its way! We are currently finalising our preparations.

What preparations you might ask?
Well since this will be the first RELEASE version for MK60.1, we will have a test run. During this period, although complied zip files will be named as "RELEASE", however it is not exactly a "RELEASE" version, more like a "RELEASE candidate" or "pre-RELEASE".

The test run will be using settings and parameters meant for RELEASE, however due to the vast nature of each device, we expect quite a number of compilation errors. Once the test run is completed, we will attempt to fix these errors.

After fixing the errors, we will then decide again if the code base is ready for a weekly RELEASE. You are welcomed to try out these "pre-RELEASE" version, however bug reports regarding this version will NOT be accepted. So please be patient while we sort things out, thank you.

We are proud to announce that we have added experimental support for incremental updates to work on systems that have Xposed installed (the one maintained by rovo89 only)! Xposed and incremental updates can work together now! 😎

Just in case people are still not informed, due to the majority of votes seen here: https://plus.google.com/+MokeedevTeam/posts/YwfaXY4gXq2, we have made incremental updates via MoKee Center a premium feature. You can still download and flash the incremental updates manually from rom.mk. Thank you everyone for your support! Hopefully this will help us be more sustainable financially.

For those long time MoKee OpenSource users, you might realize that MoKee OpenSource used to have some preinstalled applications, which most of you would call as "Chinese apps". Those are actually a form of advertising in China, where you get commissions for every install. That is crucial for the survival of this project. Apart from ads, we rely heavily on this too to obtain funds in order to maintain our servers. However, we have recently limited these preinstalled apps to auto-install in phones in China since we are well informed about the inconvenience caused. So far things have been going well.

However, it has come to the time where we decide not to rely on these apps anymore. These apps, especially MoKee Market contain some pirated content, and although not usable elsewhere, promoting them is akin to promoting piracy in China (copyright is not prioritized at all in China). However, we need to have an alternative income in order to sustain this project (obviously, since we do not charge anything in order to use our ROMs).

Finally, we heavy-heartedly came up with a solution - limit the incremental updates (OTA) feature in MoKee Center to what we call "premium" users only. You can still download the full ROM via MoKee Center, and manually download and flash the full ROM and incremental update packages via rom.mk. However, if you want to enjoy the fully automated, bandwidth saving incremental updates OTA in MoKee Center, you will have to pay a small sum. We really do not want to do this, however for the sake of this project's survival, something has to be done. Trust us, we rarely receive donations from the international community, and advertisements on websites do not earn us much.

So before we do anything, we ask all users: Are you are willing to pay to enjoy this would-be premium feature? We would like to take your opinions into account since you guys mean everything to the project. Feel free to suggest other alternatives to fund the project as well. Thank you.

P.S. Before voting for a no, think about everything we have provided so far. Nothing is for free; build servers, download servers all come with a price, but we are providing it to you for no price since we love sharing our passion. However, it is not really fair for us to do all the funding and not sustainable, we are just plain hobbyists. Yes, do not mistake us as a company like MIUI, we are like SlimRoms, Omni, BlissPop, all of us are normal people with normal lives. MoKee OpenSource is just a hobby, but soild enough to be a project.
