😓 IMAGINE wanting to sue your employer, because you have been harassed or discriminated against, only to find that your access to the courts is blocked. It turns out you signed away your right to use the judicial system when you started the job: somewhere, hidden in the documents that came with your employment contract, was a clause obliging you to resolve future disputes through private arbitration, rather than in court.

📜 When negotiating independent contractor agreements, it’s important to look beyond the present. Whether you will need the independent contractor’s services for maintenance or future service should influence your contract negotiation strategy. Thinking about your independent contractor agreement as the beginning of a relationship (instead of just a single transaction) can be a good approach in many cases. https://buff.ly/2FSa5ff

The concept of Sweat Equity is a term that is broadly defined as the increase in value that is created through the direct result of hard work. To be specific, it’s a preferred mode for entrepreneurs who don’t have the initial funds for their ventures. It’s literally the sweat off your own brow, quantified into a price tag.

🤝 When a partnership or a corporation winds up its operations, it has to liquidate and distribute its assets to the owners or shareholders. The partnership or corporation must assemble its assets, settle with creditors and debtors, and distribute its remaining assets among the owners or shareholders. https://buff.ly/2tQusEO

It's #BeKindToLawyersDay! Here are some ways to celebrate:

🥗 Take your favorite lawyer out to breakfast or lunch (make sure it's not billable!)
💌 Send your lawyer a "just because" card
📱 Switch your ring tone to the "dah-dah" sound from NBC's "Law & Order"
📃 Try to draft your own will...See, it's harder than it looks!
