Summertime means car shows around here! The next one on the calendar will be at the Terryville Fairgrounds on August 10, where we'll all celebrate the Connecticut Bug-A-Fair! All proceeds from the show will benefit the charities of the Terryville Lions Club.

First time buyer from Mitchell, and my first new car. I was in the area, and stopped by to look at a pre-owned Golf TDI that was on their website. It sold 1/2 hour before I arrived, but I was invited to test drive a new one. Scott and Aaron chatted with me for awhile, and gave me an aggressive first price on an outgoing 2014 Golf TDI on the lot. I wanted to think about it, price out the cost of ownership, etc. Aaron called periodically, about once per week, informing me of the current VW offer, and informing me of the fact that they received a Golf TDI in a color that I liked more. After thinking for a few weeks, I went back and purchased the car. The contract process with Joe was slow-paced (in a good way) and thorough. At all times, I thought the Mitchell team was honest and proactive, but not pushy. I also took the car for its initial one-month checkup (covered by VW), and was pleased by my experience with Larry and the service department. Also, many dealers do not want take a risk when it comes to stocking a variety of cars. In contrast, Mitchell had 3 '14 Golf TDIs with manual transmissions on the lot as I shopped. Unfortunately, a diesel hatchback with a manual transmission is not popular in the US market. Still, I had the basic car I wanted, in a choice of colors, right there on the Mitchell lot. I give them a lot of credit for stocking cars with a variety of colors, transmissions, and engines. I could see the same trend in their Jetta/Passat/Beetle stock.

We'll agree, Joel, the manual transmission market may be dwindling, and manufacturers may be producing fewer and fewer in their model line, but as long as it's an option, we're going to stock them -- because many of us prefer them, too! It's wonderful to hear that Aaron and Larry met and hopefully exceeded your expectations in their respective departments. We hope to continue that trend down the road, with anything else you need!

My recent service experience at Mitchell VW was very satisfactory from beginning to end. I attended their Car Care Clinic, and received a complete multi point vehicle inspection. A very detailed report was then provided to me, all for free. Larry Tashjian, in the Service Dept., is a pleasure to work with, as he really listens to what might be problematical with your car, and attempts everything in his power to fix it! He is kind, knowledgeable and willing to go the extra mile to satisfy the customer. I really enjoyed working with him, and I trust and value his opinion, which is extremely important! After all of the "gratis" work, I was still given a free car was ticket! I would recommend Mitchell VW in Canton's Service Team/Dept. and their Techs anytime to all of my friends. You will not leave disappointed as they aim to please! Thanks so much, Larry, for a job well done! This is the 5th. purchase I have made at Mitchell's VW! Love the cars and the service! Keep up the great work! :-)

I had an excellent experience with Mitchell's when buying our two new Jetta's and also selling our two old cars. I worked with sales consultant, Aaron Gettinger, who was courteous, professional, and knowledgeable. Aaron worked hard to make sure we got a good deal on our new purchases and our trade-ins, and also find the models and features in the new cars that we wanted. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend Aaron Gettinger and Mitchell's Auto Group.

Joe Carbrera is a topnotch sales consultant. If you are thinking about getting a Volkswagen or any car, just go to Mitchell and find Joe. You won't be disappointed. I walked into Mitchell with my 82 year old father and my 17 year old daughter. All three of us wanted a vehicle that day, but only one of us was prepared to buy one-me, and I was not going to leave without a great deal. Joe and my father quickly struck up a conversation about Subarus and Karmenn Ghias. Joe had to maneuver between my father trying to fanagle a Subaru trade for himself as we looked over possible preowned Volkswagens intended for my daughter but maybe for me instead. A novice sales consultant would have not been able to juggle three generations of possible sales all at once and all morning long, but Joe moved with skill, good humor, and lots of patience. We test drove vehicles for about two hours until I thought I was sure. And then my daughter started eyeing the rest of the lot. "How about this one, it's a pretty color," she said. Joe rolled with it showing no signs of fatigue, grabbed the keys, paperwork and plate while maintaining professionalism. I ended up buying that car, a very pretty 2012 Passat, only because he made the effort to get me the best deal he could and, of course, because the car drives like dream. In the end, my daughter and I get to share an awesome car and my father is planning to go back for that Subaru trade in. Everybody's happy. Joe made it all happen. He's the best!!

I have very mixed reviews about my experience with Mitchell. The sales guy was excellent but the mechanics and delivery team was below average. I purchased 2 cars from Mitchell (VW Passat and a MB E500) and when they were delivered they were not properly detailed the rims were dirty, they splashed armor all on the tires and it was a half !@##$@ detailing job. When I test drove the vehicles they both had owners manuals there were no owners manual in either vehicles when I picked up the cars. they had to order and send them and it took over a month to receive. The adapter for the radio was in the Passat when I test drove it and when I went to take delivery the adapter was missing. cost me $189.00 to replace it. In the MB E500 there was a bubble in the tire which caused the car to pull to the right. I had to replace the tire ($259.00) and get a wheel alignment ($79.00). I will not buy another car from Mitchell Auto. Great sales guy terrible service and delivery

I have a 2002 Jetta with 150,000. Recently I had a major motor problem. Dead battery, engine misfiring, timing belt problem and a dead coil. Kiley and her team where able to bring back this wonderful Jetta into perfect order. Mitchell provided me with a 2014 Passat loaner during for 5 days while working on the Jetta. Great people, great customer service and a pleasure to work with these great people.

I just drove off the lot with a brand new 2014 Jetta S Manual yesterday and I absolutely love it. I spoke with Skip who was extremely personable and informative while dealing with me. I can't say a bad thing about any part of my experience. They were able to offer me more on my trade in than I was expecting and more than any other place around was going to offer me. Seeing how this was my first lease ever and the first lease anyone in my family has ever done I was a little nervous but Skip walked me through everything and really put me at ease. I want to give a big thank you to Mitchell VW in Canton. I highly recommend them to anyone who is looking for a quality car and a fair price.

We really appreciate this mention, David, because leases can be potentially a very confusing decision to make against "traditional" purchases or financing. Skip is adept at breaking down the differences, though, as you've seen, and we're glad he was able to not only help make the process easier to understand, but put you in a great new Jetta as well. (And hey, side note? Nice decision going with a manual, that's our preference, too!)

Joseph Cabrera is as good as any salesman gets! I sen't Joseph an email 6pm on a Sunday evening, within 15 minutes, I received a phone call from him scheduling an appointment to look at the vehicle the next day. Joe was not pushy at all. When we did not like the color of the vehicle on the lot, Joe wen't out of his way to find us our color choice, which was in NH! Within one week, I was driving away in the exact vehicle of my choice, a 2013 Yellow VW Beetle TDI! I have already recommended this dealership to others, and will definitely be back! THANKS JOE!
